Mizzou professor who called for 'muscle' to remove reporter suspended

Following a special meeting of the University of Missouri Board of Curators, assistant communications professor Melissa Click, who went in search of “muscle” to enforce a “media free zone” set up by campus protesters, has been suspended pending further investigation.

The Mizzou journalism school’s executive committee had voted in November to remove Click’s courtesy title, and this Monday she was charged with third-degree assault, to which she pleaded not guilty on Tuesday.

FOX 4 News reports tonight that the board’s general counsel will conduct an investigation and collaborate with the city attorney in Columbia before making a final decision regarding Click’s employment at the school.

Protests at the school erupted after Dr. Dale Brigham refused to cancel an exam for students who said they feared for their lives due to online threats warning minorities not to step on campus the following day.
