Texas state Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer: GOP stands for 'gringos y otros pendejos'

At the Texas Democratic Convention in Dallas Friday, Texas state Rep. Trey Martinez Fischer said in a speech that GOP just stands for “gringos y otros pendejos.”

Convention-goers were also invited to have their photo taken with a set of six Lotería cards, including one depicting “El Diablito” Greg Abbott — complete with horns —and another picturing “La Valiente” Wendy Davis.

The Houston Chronicle describes Martinez Fischer as “well-known for his penchant for throwing bombs at his colleagues across the isle.” It further reports the response from the Abbott camp:

“Wendy Davis and her allies’ beliefs that all Anglos and Republicans are ‘gringos’ and ‘pendejos’ is both despicable and insulting to the hundreds of thousands [of] non Anglos that support Greg Abbott, including his own multicultural family,” Abbott campaign spokesman Avdiel Huerta said of the Fort Worth state senator, who accepted the state Democratic Party’s nomination for governor Friday.

Martinez Fischer had this to say in response: “I stand by my words.I did not know Greg Abbott was at the convention to hear me, and if I had known that I would told him directly to his face.”
