That line, delivered Tuesday afternoon during Sen. Ted “Wacko Bird” Cruz’s filibuster, was a good one. You might remember Cruz’s appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” where host Chris Wallace confided that he had opposition research to use against his host that was sent to him by “top Republicans.” Sarah Palin asked Wallace to do away with these anonymous sources for good and release the names.
That hasn’t happened, but Palin did pen an lengthy and impassioned defense of Cruz on Breitbart.com, in which she warned the “very junior Senator from Texas” about the same backstabbing game in which she’d been a player:
We’re now, once again, subjected to the “anonymous sources” backstabbing game. The Capitol Hill cowards are rushing to anonymously denounce Senator Cruz to any reporter with a pad and pen.
Welcome to our world, Ted. The same people have been denouncing conservatives like me for years (right after they ask for help fundraising for themselves or endorsing the latest candidate they’ve suckered into paying their exorbitant consulting fees). We can compare shiv marks next time we meet, my friend.
Speaking of fundraising, it didn’t take the “establishment” RNC long to put together a Stand With Ted petition/fundraiser. “Cruzmania” should be good for a few donations and email addresses, temporarily, of course.
