Anyone who might have mistaken the Trayvon Martin shooting for just another local crime story was disabused of that notion when no less than President Obama inserted himself into the story, famously noting that his own hypothetical son would look like Trayvon.
We haven’t seen Piers Morgan’s sons, so we can’t say if they look like Trayvon, but Morgan wonders what advice to give them now that Zimmerman is a free man. What if, one night, they find themselves being followed by a gun-toting George Zimmerman? What do you say, Twitter?

@piersmorgan Tell them not to assault the guy with the gun. That's probably best. Don't attack the guy with the gun

@piersmorgan Take their hood off. Stand their ground but only in self defense. Don't instigate.

.@piersmorgan to not get on top of #Zimmerman and beat the hell out of him? maybe?
— Paul Bustamante (@avedu) July 19, 2013
@piersmorgan Tell them not to smash his head into concrete?
— Josh Phillips (@britishbeacon) July 19, 2013
@piersmorgan Go home or to a busy place. Once confrontation starts it ends badly. Oh and there is no evidence Zim was brandishing a weapon.

@piersmorgan you tell your teenage sons to keep walking and go directly to where they are going do not dance around

@piersmorgan maybe call the cops like Zimmerman did? You pinhead
— Camosnake_1 (@Camosnake_1) July 19, 2013
@piersmorgan Don't hit him, don't beat his head. Walk away, and call the police.

Call cops and don't bash heads on pavement. MT @piersmorgan I have 3 teenage sons. What should they do if Zimmerman follows with his gun?

@piersmorgan Not to go punch him in the face? Call the police? Run? Walk away?
— Michael Cabrelle (@LegendKiller613) July 19, 2013
@piersmorgan Don't throw the first punch & don't try to beat him to death? (Good advice in general, since anyone can have a concealed gun.)
— Tom Reynolds (@Beregond) July 19, 2013
@piersmorgan tell them not to assault him.

Is any of this sinking in?
So it's wrong for Travyon to throw a punch at a guy stalking him, but right for the stalker to shoot him dead? What a farce.
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 19, 2013
Wish I could stay calm and rational about it. But when you have teenage sons, it's hard. #Trayvon
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 19, 2013
"Stand your ground" – the single most repulsive, dangerous, macho law in the civilised world.
— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) July 19, 2013
.@PiersMorgan Once again, "stand your ground" was not an issue in Zimmerman. Please use facts, not Eric Holder talking points.
— Ben Shapiro (@benshapiro) July 19, 2013
Give the guy a break, would you? It’s hard to be rational when you have teenage sons.
Any other advice?
