President Biden's chief of staff says schools aren't open because they haven't made the investments to keep students safe

Back in December, President-elect Joe Biden said it was his goal to have schools open within the first 100 days of his administration, telling 31 state governors on a Zoom call, “I know it’s going to be controversial for some of you.” He followed up that call with a tweet:

Even CNN’s Jake Tapper, who’s gotten on our nerves lately, insisted the health experts said to open schools now, not 100 days from Inauguration Day. As you saw yesterday, though, members of the Chicago Teachers Union decided instead of returning to class they’d express their desire to feel safe through interpretive dance.

Biden’s chief of staff, Ron Klain, who was also President Obama’s Ebola czar, was on CNN the other night and said it’s not the teachers’ unions that are keeping schools closed; it was the fact that schools hadn’t made the investments to keep the students safe. As Twitchy reported back in early December, Biden had talked with the heads of the teachers’ unions and agreed that they could reopen elementary schools for $100 billion.
