We’re kind of amused by the idea of a reporter wanting to “Make Journalism Great Again” on Inauguration Day, seeing as the media has done nothing but pat itself on the back for the past four years (the Dan Rather Medal for News and Guts?) even though the biggest story of President Trump’s term turned out to be fake news.
Sulome Anderson is a journalist with bylines everywhere, and it sounds like journalists are ready to go back into their slumber from the Obama administration; guess that’s what making journalism great means.
I can’t count how many incredible stories I’ve had turned down or haven’t even bothered to pitch over the last four years, knowing there would be little interest in political or conflict pieces that don’t involve Trump. On January 20, let’s MAJA—Make Journalism Great Again.
