The Scales of Justice Cannot Continue Favoring the Left

ImgFlip

As we approach Donald Trump's inauguration, one of the most controversial acts of his presidency will be the pardons of January 6 defendants. Trump said 'major pardons' were coming, much to the dismay of Democrat Chuck Schumer.

A month ago, I argued that Donald Trump would be right to pardon January 6 defendants. Not because they all did nothing wrong (some of them did), but because the Left -- led by Joe Biden -- have made it very clear that all their talk about 'no one is above the law' was really code for 'the law only applies to Republicans and their supporters.

It's the hypocrisy.

And here's more evidence in favor of my argument:

More from The Post Millennial:

A United States District Court Judge has sentenced a Pennsylvania Antifa terror couple to prison and probation over a 2023 bombing attack at the University of Pittsburgh. Brian DiPippa, 37, and his wife Krystal DiPippa, 42, of Pittsburgh, pleaded guilty to plotting and attacking a conservative speaking event using homemade incendiary devices and explosives. Several police officers were injured in the attack, according to a press release from the Department of Justice.

Judge J. Nicholas Ranjan sentenced Brian "Peppy" DiPippa on Monday to five years in prison. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy and obstruction of law enforcement. His charge of using an explosive to commit a federal felony was dismissed as part of a plea agreement. Krystal DiPippa pleaded guilty to obstruction of law enforcement and received a sentence of three years of probation, including 80 hours of community service. The conspiracy charge against her was dropped as part of a sweetheart plea deal, court filings show.

There is no fundamental difference between what the DiPippas did and the worst of the January 6 defendants, a man named David Nicholas Dempsey. Dempsey pled guilty to two counts of assaulting police officers with dangerous weapons and he was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

In both cases, officers were injured. But because the target of the DiPippas' attack was one the Left finds acceptable -- a conservative speaking event featuring Michael J. Knowles of The Daily Wire -- the punishment is not commensurate to the crime.

Dempsey enjoys no such political protections. Neither did members of The Proud Boys, who were all sentenced for seditious conspiracy related to January 6. Enrique Tarrio was sentence to 22 years behind bars, while five others were sentenced to between 12 and 18 years.

Here's just a sample of other sentences related to January 6:

On April 14, 2023, Vincent J. Gillespie, of Athol, Massachusetts, was sentenced to five years and eight months in prison. He grabbed a police shield from officers, rammed it into them and pulled another officer into the mob of protestors.[159]

On April 14, 2023, Patrick McCaughey III, of Ridgefield, Connecticut, was sentenced to seven years and six months in prison. He crushed a police officer in a doorframe with a riot shield.[160]

On April 28, 2023, Jeffrey Scott Brown, of Santa Ana, California, was sentenced to four years and six months in prison. He assaulted police with pepper spray.[161]

On May 5, 2023, Peter Schwartz, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania, was sentenced to 14 years and two months in prison. He sprayed a "super soaker" canister of pepper spray at retreating officers. He had 38 prior convictions over the previous 30 years.[162]

If these defendants were repeat offenders in New York City -- where a man with 80+ arrests was re-arrested after stabbing several people on the subway -- they would not get prison time. If they were members of BLM or Antifa, they would likely not get prison time and the soon-to-be former Vice President would raise money for their bail.

Laws, in the eyes of Democrats, only apply to the other side.

That's why Hunter Biden enjoyed an 11-year blanket pardon (which was more about protecting Joe Biden than helping Hunter), and why Biden's staffers pardoned, commuted the sentences of, or granted clemency to thousands of criminals, including 37 on death row -- criminals who killed women and children, harmed cancer patients to defraud Medicare, and a judge who accepted bribes to send children to for-profit prisons.

I want a world where justice and consequences are fairly and equally applied.

Thanks to the Left, we do not live in that world. Instead, we live in a world where 'justice' is based not on the severity your crime but on your political value, and whether or not you targeted the (R)ight people as victims.

So pardon away, President Trump. The Left has made it okay for you to do so.
