Trump Says He'll Pardon Jan. 6 Protestors. He's Right to Do So

There was a time justice was blind. It's meant to be -- we have laws and the enforcement of those laws should be applied objectively and without bias or consideration for the race, creed, religion, or socioeconomic status of the perpetrators. There is, of course, a reasonable discussion to be had about prosecutorial judgement and whether or not extenuating factors could alter the application of those laws.

But those extenuating circumstances should not be based on political agendas and political bias. Unfortunately, in the name of 'restorative justice' and 'equity', the Left has done away with a blind justice system in favor of one that puts other factors front and center when it comes to law enforcement.

For example, the prosecutor behind the Daniel Penny case, Dafna Yoran, reduced a murder charge to manslaughter because the defendant was a Black man and the Yoran considered his 'trauma' (she didn't seem to consider the trauma of the Asian professor he killed, or the trauma of professor's loved ones).

NY DA Alvin Bragg downgraded 60% of felony charges in the Big Apple to misdemeanors.

On top of that, another subway rider who defended himself and others was let go with $0 bail and no charges after stabbing the man to death:

Bragg is also the guy who let pro-Hamas Columbia University rioters off the hook for their crimes, citing 'lack of evidence.'

Which brings me to the January 6 defendants.

Donald Trump has now said he plans to pardon them on day one:

And I say, good. After years of the Left spitting in the face of justice -- of letting BLM rioters off the hook, turning actual, violent criminals loose with no bail and reduced (or dropped) charges there's no reason for Trump not to do this.

Joe Biden pardoning his son, Hunter, was the last straw. Make no mistake: the decade-long blanket pardon was less for Hunter's sake than it was for Joe's. He was elbows-deep in shady, illegal dealings and Hunter was simply the bag man. He's protecting himself.

After lecturing us about how no one is above the law, and saying the politically motivated Manhattan case against Trump was proof of no one being above the law, the pardon exposed what a hypocritical lie that was.

On top of it, Biden is also apparently considering blanket pardons for others: Anthony Fauci, Liz Cheney, and more.

Accountability for thee, but not for me, seems to be their motto.

But back to the issue at hand:

An appeals court ruled that J6 defendants were often handed improperly enhanced sentences, which surprises no one who was paying attention. The Biden DOJ was happy to label parents, veterans, and Catholics 'domestic terrorists', but the people who burned Minneapolis and Kenosha to the ground were just fighting for their civil rights.

A judge in California -- California -- dismissed charges against Right-wing protesters back in February, noting that ZERO Left-wing protesters at that same rally were arrested or charge, calling it 'textbook viewpoint discrimination. As of January, J6 defendants were sentenced to a collective 840 years in prison, something President Biden bragged about and his followers applauded.

Those swept up in the J6 prosecution fever including Blaze journalist Steve Baker who was at the Capitol that day in the capacity of a journalist. His only 'crime' was publishing stories that undermined the Biden administration's narrative on the day. Remember when meant tweets were an unacceptable attack on the free press and First Amendment? Good times.

When Trump pardons the J6 defendants, the media will spin it as the lawless pardoning of threats to democracy, and Trump rewarding his 'sycophants' for their loyalty. The pearl-clutching will be epic.

The challenge for Trump here is to get ahead of the media hysterics, and to articulate all the reasons why a pardon of J6 defendants -- after everything the Democrats have done -- is the only way forward.
