Stacey Plaskett Has a Voice, but Not a Clue

I often wonder what color the sky is in the Left's world, because it's very clear they do not live on the same plane of reality as the rest of us. They live in a world of their own imagining, where the rules are made up as they go along, and always to their benefit, of course.

Today, the 119th Congress was sworn in and the House voted for Speaker. Republican Mike Johnson won, with some dissent from Rep. Thomas Massie. But that's not the story I find most interesting.

The most interesting part was when delegate Stacey Plaskett went on a rant about not being able to vote for Speaker of the House. Plaskett is the non-voting delegate from the U.S. Virgin Islands.

She was very offended that she could not vote for Speaker of the House, a rule she undoubtedly is aware of, as she's been in Congress since 2015.

Not only does she go on her rant, there are several Democrats applauding her.

What happened to 'norms' and 'decency' and 'no one is above the law'?

We all know: they never meant any of that.

And the Democrats applauded her.

It certainly seems a little insurrection-y to me. 

The Democrats are demanding a vote that they are prohibited from casting.

What if the parliamentarian had let her? What would have happened then? It would clearly be a violation of the statute prohibiting such a vote. The Left would never, ever tolerate such a move from the Right. It would be evidence that Republicans are dictators who don't care about the Constitution.

It would be labeled an insurrection on par with January 6. So Plaskett's outburst should be treated as it would if she were a Republican.

Yet like all things with the Left, those standards only apply to their political opponents, and never to themselves.

If Plaskett wants the Virgin Islands to have a vote, she should push to make the Virgin Islands a state and -- with it -- all the obligations and conditions that come with being a state. But she won't do that.

Instead, Plaskett wants to be performative, to parade her faux indignation for the cameras and pretend she's the oen standing up for the rights of the delegates who don't get a vote.

Cutting her mic was the first step in responding to her hysterics. The Republican majority should censure her for her outburst and for her attempt at insurrection.
