President Obama’s had it pretty rough lately, what with nobody taking him seriously about dealing with Putin.

That changes today:

Or … maybe not.

Nothing says power and gravitas like an alphabet rug.

That’s putting it mildly.

“Oh dear” is right.

No, but it could be:

Or maybe it’s for “chicken”:

Sounds tasty.

All joking aside, though, can you honestly think of a more appropriate place for this president to give a presser?

They are, indeed.

We can’t wait for the next one.

  • alanstorm

    Strangely appropriate…

  • QueenB

Next up – throwing Donald Trump’s toupee in Putin’s direction. Nice rug dude.

Strength through raising your hand for permission and getting recess.

  • Tugger – ✓unamused

The saddest part is that is a new common core high school classroom.

  • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

Is he teaching those grade school kids how to read his Marxist script from his teleprompter?

Pretty bad when the child has to visit really innocent children to get your adulation fix, teleprompter in hand.

If you elect me president, I promise 60 extra minutes of recess for everyone!

  • schveiguy

He was there doing research anyway, why make him go back to the white house?

  • TJ

They would have put TOTUS up but it was not needed as it was “off the cuff” remarks not a speech.

  • Thomas Zak

Anybody notice that the Russian Bear “B” is sneaking up behind him?

  • sez-who

That’s real? I figured it for a photoshop. Not that I have a lot of respect for this president but still . . .

  • mickeyco

It must be this room they’ve been referring to as the one where he’s the smartest man.

  • Steve__Jacobson

He’s getting closer to his pay grade. What’s below preschool?

  • Bklynnygirl

    He’s so freaking embarrassing.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

It’s been a rough few days for Obama. He’s gone from happy hour to preschool.

    • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

      He’s never, ever sober.

      • Tugger – ✓unamused

Is he ‘all hopped up on goofballs’

        • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

          Un-huh…his own.

  • Petey Bee

damn… wow… propaganda people totally out to lunch on this one.

  • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

Will you be able to convince these children that they have to agree with you, or they too will become your enemy? just asking?

  • Turning Leaves

I can’t wait for the Ana Marie Cox/Bear wrestling match this photo set up.

  • Guest

It seems they were looking for another way to have a picture of Obama in an elementary classroom, behind a podium, but this time with the teleprompters just out of view of the picture taken (I think we all can remember the last picture…ha! ha!), they didn’t realize how ridiculous it would look for him talking about this kind of situation on an alphabet rug. ~eye roll~ This guy is such an embarrassment!

  • Spinmamma

He just feels more comfortable there–it’s less scary.

    • OLLPOH ~ OurLifeLiberty

Exactly. The boy is not sober in the slightest.

  • BoscoBolt

Oh my – I can totally hear Putin laughing his ass off from my house.

  • CableNewsGuy

He must’ve been serious cause he’s not even using teleprompters.

  • Jeff

at lease they learned to keep the TOTUS out of the pictures this time.

  • Comrade Hadenov

Looks like Rugmonkey has a question and the dude behind the divider is going to put a stop to anyone questioning the short bus kid… Maybe obama’s strategy is Putin will die laughing when he sees this picture and, viola, no more Ukrainian non-invasion! Brilliant!

  • Maryland_Malcontent

This from the party that still mocks Dubya for reading to that elementary school class during 9/11??

  • Andy Rigo ✓ᵗᵉʳʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

OK. At this point, can we all agree that this president has completely sh!t the bed?

    The Oval Nap Mat.

    • arttie

It is the new oval office rug reflecting that ability and maturity of the current occupant.

  • WhoDat

The way the sound guys ran the mic cords under the mat amuses me.

    • nc ✓s & balances

How else? If they bring it over from the back or the side he could trip over it, which would defeat the purpose.

      • WhoDat

Someone just put way too much thought into it.

  • nc ✓s & balances

Does anyone else think that rug looks way to clean and fresh to come from a kindergarten classroom? Did they bring a brand new one in specially for BHO? Color me suspicious.

    • SFfam

I thought it was photoshopped at first for that very reason, but it seems to be an actual photo. I just can’t imagine what his “people” were thinking!

      • UpNorth2

His people were probably “thinking” that it would only be a head and shoulders shot. I hear there may be an opening in the White House PR department as early as Wednesday a.m.

        • Suzyqpie

Pres 0bama would never never fire one of his friends in the PR dept. The whole scene is staged and planned. The question…what message did the operative & camarilla think would be conveyed by this setting, they did not think, as this thread indicates, that Pres 0bama would look foolish. What could the optics goal possibly be…he does look foolish and why would anyone think otherwise. Maybe there are saboteurs in the PR dept.

  • H50 ✓RAT

Well, if the clown college wasn’t available, I guess this was the next best thing.
Optics have never been this Administrations strong suit.

  • CO2 Producer

Is this real life? It has to be because no person could conceive of such absurdities and make it believable fiction. Good lord.

    • Suzyqpie

Amazingly, it is real. And it is totally incredulous. Who chose this absurd setting for The President of the United States, who is attempting to convey or reinforce credibility and authority in the middle of a potential international disaster. Really, really, standing on an alphabet rug. Stunning, really.

  • RanierWest

It’s not like he was caught unawares on 9/11 and had to say something on the spot… they wanted the speech there. Are they trying to link that day in any way?

  • Iacobus

Is it possible to laugh and scream at the same time? Because that’s what I did. >.>

Who in their ever-living minds thought it was a good idea to have the mat?

    • SisterMary

Who thought it was a good idea to have the speech in a Kindergarten room? Do these people think things through?

  • Ralph Thayer

Gotta admit — Better “optics” than “Leading from behind.”
And who is it been polishing that apple on the desk?

  • William2010

Barack Hussein Obama II – Barry Soetoro in a class room with small children? Corrupting the morals of a minor!

Why put the children in danger from such a dishonest, deceptive, mean spirited, malicious person as Obama? He believes that if his daughters become pregnant with his and Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama’s grand child or grand children, that they are “Mistakes” and he does not want his daughters “Punished with, or by a “mistake.”

    How cruel is that?

A living human being, in the womb, or out of the womb, a “mistake?”

    Extremely cruel!

I do NOT trust Obama. I see him as a dangerous, yet effete, person. I do not want this vicious man, Obama, any closer to my children than the approximately 135 miles from our home to Washington, D.C.

  • © Sponge

Look on the bright side. He’s not obscured by a teleprompter………

Is that the principal in the doorway? I hope obama didn’t point his finger like a gun. He would be expelled.

  • stuckinIL4now

That blue carpet might be an icon to the kids in that classroom and so isn’t this kind of like the Bieb’ stepping on the Chief Blackhawk emblem in the Chicago Blackhawks clubhouse? And there’s Barky’s insult–treading on America’s future.
