Andrew Cuomo is beaming, you guys. Because he’s just scored a coveted endorsement from the New York Times. With a little help from his friends Cut and Paste:
Proud to be endorsed by the @nytimes

Fake news, Governor.
That’s not the right quote, my bro

We read the New York Times’ endorsement. It was hardly a ringing one. And we couldn’t find that quote Cuomo pulled anywhere! So weird.
You completely misquoted the Times. They didn’t say that. You’re a liar.
— SilverFox ? (@FoxOfSilver2000) September 13, 2018
This is… not actually a quote from the NY Times. It's a mash-up of two separate quotes (with negative qualifiers removed) and the "Go and vote" is just fabricated entirely https://t.co/wzZsCu2003

LOL.
Now, post the real quote
— B.T. Samuel. (@JustBeaTee) September 13, 2018
Here it is:
"When he allows petty enmity and political grievance to distract him from his commitment to public service, he is his own worst enemy."
— Cody (@codyandrusnyc) September 13, 2018
The whole NYT quote: "When he allows petty enmity and political grievance to distract him from his commitment to public service, he is his own worst enemy. But when he confronts a real problem and gets down to work, he is a very capable governor." you are a liar!!

Cynthia Nixon is an awful socialist, but we’d be lying if we said we wouldn’t enjoy seeing her kick Andrew Cuomo’s butt.

Update:
As it turns out, it appears that Cuomo was in fact quoting this tweet from the @nytopinion Twitter account:
When @NYGovCuomo confronts a real problem and gets down to work, he is a very capable governor. He merits one more chance to serve New York. Go and vote. https://t.co/ORScNp5IfW
— NYT Opinion (@nytopinion) September 13, 2018
So @nytopinion conveniently left out all the endorsement’s negative comments about Cuomo.
Whoops! I deleted this tweet. Turns Cuomo was accurately quoting a New York Times *tweet*, which edited and spliced together several of the paragraphs that appeared in the actual editorial. pic.twitter.com/ej3WsqQ8BZ

Pretty shady on the New York Times’ part. No wonder Cuomo likes them.
