It kind of goes without saying that the alleged spying on the Trump campaign by the Obama-era FBI and Department of Justice would pique Sharyl Attkisson’s interest. The investigative journalist knows a thing or two about being spied on.
This afternoon, Attkisson is attempting to break this mess down some more:
(1/3) There are at least 2 possible scenarios: #1 In 2016, before anybody thought @realDonaldTrump would win, the FBI correctly anticipated the Trump campaign would be uniquely targeted by Russia & devoted extraordinary efforts to investigating it….(cont.)

(2/3) …including placing at least one spy/informant close to Trump campaign & wiretapping or surveilling at least seven Trump associates— all while President Obama denied such election interference was possible— and yet in the end…(cont.)

(3/3) …the FBI was still incompetent at preventing the Russian interference they'd investigated all year, and then found no grounds to open an investigation into @realDonaldTrump until after he fired FBI Director Comey. Or #2 The govt spied on Trump for political purposes.

Attkisson offered up further analysis of the first scenario.
At this point, have we seen any evidence that Russia did uniquely target the Trump campaign?

We know that the FBI says they targeted the DNC. Wonder if they placed a spy in the DNC to get info on that election year national security risk?

If you suspect Russia may try to interfere should the tact be: 1. Wiretap, surveil & plant informants w/ one political campaign or 2. Brief all campaigns to be on the lookout? (continued…)

#1 is more effective if the candidate is the target and you want to get political intel against him.
#2 is more effective if Russia is the target and you want to stop Russian interference.— Sharyl Attkisson?️♂️ (@SharylAttkisson) May 21, 2018
