As Twitchy told you, NBC News and MSNBC embarrassed themselves yet again this afternoon, when they had to correct their original report that the feds wiretapped Trump lawyer Michael Cohen. See, the thing is, “monitoring” and “wiretapping” aren’t really the same thing.
Well, NBC and MSNBC aren’t the only ones who should have egg on their faces right now. We can’t forget about Stormy Daniels’ lawyer Michael Avenatti, who asserted that it’s ” a fact” that the feds had also intercepted some of Cohen’s text messages. Just a couple of hours before NBC issued their correction, Avenatti also tweeted this:
If the NBC reporting re: audio wiretaps is true, and I have every reason to believe it is, the pucker factor associated with Mr. Cohen and the President will remain immeasurable for the weeks and months to come. #basta

And there’s this, too:
Hmm. So here's what Avenatti said after NBC's initial Cohen wiretap report but before its MASSIVE correction. @dailycaller https://t.co/Yqs4l0uRNZ pic.twitter.com/HK6rkWEL3B

It didn’t take long at all for that to age very, very badly. So, take a bow, MSNBC. You really reached for the stars with Michael Avenatti!
