'WTF I love Trump now'! So, will Dems and gun control advocates praise Trump for this? [video]

What happens when Donald Trump goes off script? It looks a little something like this:

Trump says Florida police should have taken away the Stoneman Douglas shooter's guns "whether they had the right or not."

Trump asks if Toomey included raising the age to buy assault weapons to 21.

Toomey says no (it's a background check bill…)

Pres Trump: "You know why? Because you're afraid of the NRA…"

— Frank Thorp V (@frankthorp) February 28, 2018

Trump asks Manchin & Toomey if their bill raised the age to buy a handgun to 21.
Toomey: "We didn't address it, Mr. President."
Trump: "Do you know why? You're afraid of the NRA."

.@SenToomey: "We didn't address it, Mr. President."

President Trump: "You know why, because you're afraid of the NRA"

JUST NOW: "I like taking the guns early," President Trump says. "Take the guns first, go through due process second."

— Chris Geidner (@chrisgeidner) February 28, 2018

Trump actually just said, "take the guns first, go through due process second."

— Kailani Koenig (@kailanikm) February 28, 2018

He really did:

This is some infinity-dimensional chess right here.

Just got this from a senior GOP aide: "The President is like a blindfolded Yosemite Sam, shooting from the hip. It's clear he doesn't know the details and it's unclear what he wants."

Becoming a gun grabber to own the libs. Trump’s greatest feat yet. https://t.co/MyXoM5kZKm

We’re not sure how … but the Left should be thrilled.

so far Trump supports adding every Democratic idea into a base bill

— Jim Newell (@jim_newell) February 28, 2018

So, if I'm understanding this meeting right, Trump supports adding universal background checks to Fix NICS but not concealed carry reciprocity. If that's true it's a big win for democrats and gun control activists.

— Stephen Gutowski (@StephenGutowski) February 28, 2018

I'm not sure that Trump and Hogg are that far apart on policy after today.

If Hogg was smart, he should praise Trump…Trump would probably RT it.

— Pradheep J. Shanker (@Neoavatara) February 28, 2018

Trump's rhetoric today was much closer to his 2000 book "The America We Deserve" where he attacked the influence of the NRA & endorsed some gun control than his 2016 campaign where he did the opposite.

They told me if I didn't vote for Trump the President would agree with the Democrats on gun policy.

And they were right!

Dems: Wtf I love Trump now https://t.co/p3xL6mtIOZ

She’s so ecstatic, she might actually explode.

My new life goal is to be half as happy as @SenFeinstein when Trump said she should add assault weapons ban to Manchin-Toomey pic.twitter.com/O1cJ4ckJI7

Welp.

Trump can't lose in 2020 if he's nominated by both the Dems and Republicans https://t.co/vgxLESNwub
