Late tonight, the House voted to delay Obamacare funding for a year and avert a government shutdown. Seventeen Democrats joined the GOP in repealing the disastrous medical device tax as well.

Here’s how it went down.

Exit reminder: Anarchy! Extortion! AnarchyExtortion!

Nope, this is what a constitutional republic looks like.

Back to the Senate and Hysterical Harry.

What happened to rolling back the Congressional exemption? They didn’t address that? That one needs to happen.

    • GrindingMills

      What happened to defunding?

      • ObamaFail

The Dems will never let it be defunded, so I think Republicans want to delay it until after the midterm elections so they can take the fight to their own districts and can try to take back the Senate and kill Obamacare before it’s implementation in 2015.

  • GaryTheBrave

WONDERFUL!! So now Ocare will hit everyone AFTER the mid-terms. #facepalm

    • MNWoman

I haven’t read the details, so I am only going by what Twitchy is reporting. Would the one year delay would expire on October 1, 2014 or is the one year delay to start on January 1st (to go along with the corporate delay)?

      • RblDiver

I think the former, so Oct 1, 2014.

        • MNWoman

So just in time for the mid-terms.

The problem with this is I do not want my healthcare to be part of a political game.

I know a lot of people say let O-care go into effect and let the dems own it, but to do that would mean I would have to deal with this disasterous law.

          • Chevypowered

Also what everyone seem to forget that Democrats own nothing. If obamacare goes through and fail. It will still be everybody’s fault but Obama and the D’s and the media will make damn sure of that.

        I need to double-check, but I thought it was Jan 1, 2015.

    • ObamaFail

That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Because then each individual Republican only needs to convince the people of their state that the only party who cares about what happens to the people of America are the Republicans, before Obamacare can hit. The majority of Americans are already against Obamacare, the GOP can spend the next year after the delay slamming the facts home, and the Dems will only have the same BS they’ve used to promote it, and more and more people are beginning to see through it.

Tea Party Patriots has been sending out daily email action alerts, and have been really on top of this. If you’re not on their list, you should be.

Today, even before the House vote was taken, they were already urging the phone calls and emails to be directed back to the Senate again, because they knew the House Repubs were solid. They also suggested contacting House Dems in Red states, and it obviously made a difference, at least on the medical device tax vote.

Even though I’m in the bluest of the blue state, CA, I’m still letting Feinstein and Boxer know how I feel. They won’t change their vote, but they need to hear our voices.

I have no representation…. my Rep is Gloria McLeod…. On the other hand, if I didn’t have bad luck, I would have none at all.
But, however, E-mail and tweets are cheap and easy.

Switch to the Senate now. Their next vote is Monday.

  • HARP2

Democrats aren`t even pretending to be Americans anymore..

Hey Harry….I thought Cruz’ 21-hours was a waste of time?

One man is playing chess. The opposing party is playing checkers.

    • GrindingMills

He’s not playing chess. He’s throwing shit against the wall and hoping something sticks. In my mind, if there’s a delay, Cruz’s plan will be a failure. We want to defund or repeal, not delay.

    • ObamaFail

Checkers might still be far too complicated for Harry Reid.

      • tops116 ✓ Vexatious

He should play Jenga with Kerry. 😉

  • Aitch748

Now watch as Reid rejects the new House bill, finds another way to fund Obamacare, and insists that it’s the House that refuses to compromise.

    • ObamaFail

And the liberals will be too stupid to see through the BS.

  • alanstorm

OK, Harry, the ball’s in your court. How about some of that compromise that Democrats are always blathering about?

    • ObamaFail

The Dems only negotiate with terrorists. Not with Americans.

  • alanstorm

Remember back when dissent was patriotic?

I know, that was SO long ago…

    • tops116 ✓ Vexatious

It was a bygone era of… five years ago.

  • ObamaFail

The Senate won’t pass this the way it is, the Senate Dems want Obamacare to happen on time (for the average American, Obama’s big business buddies still get exemptions and delays), and they want that medical device tax, because it’s a tax and taxing Americans is the only thing that makes Harry Reid still feel alive. Or if the Senate leaves it as is, Obama will veto it, shut down the government, blame Republicans, and the lemmings and liberal media will eat it up.

  • tops116 ✓ Vexatious

Damn Republicans, going around proceeding in lawful fashion. Why can’t they be like Obama and delay a bill unilaterally?
