If it’s Sunday night, it’s a night for nasty starlet Sarah Silverman to bash people of faith.

This from the vulgarian who told Rick Santorum to “suck a dick,” called Mitt Romney “human garbage” for defending traditional marriage, tweets repeatedly about her “crotch” and “anus,” loves to joke about abortion, and gleefully indulges in public gutter talk.

Keep her in your prayers.

Exit question: Ever wonder why Sarah Silverman never makes fun of Muslims? Penn Jillette’s commentary (starts at around 5:00) from a few years ago is on point (language warning):

Without a power greater than yourself, how do you have a constant reference point as to what is “right?” It pretty much means whatever you want it to, at any given time.

    • http://www.facebook.com/luke.givens.963 Luke Givens

If you need “a power greater than yourself” to prevent you from killing, raping or stealing, by all means run with it honey. Of course you also have to have a pretty selective reading of the Bible to decide your God is about love or at the very least civil behavior and not those things I mentioned, so obviously you have imbibed some reference points from your fellow human beings about certain behaviors being acceptable and other behaviors being unacceptable, as much as you’d like to insist it’s all from “a power greater than yourself”.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

That is rich because the only ‘selective reading’ I have seen is when atheists nitpick on a passage given to them by other atheists and take it out of context. If your and Sarah Silverman’s version of morality is what we can expect from atheism then I’ll pass.

      • JBDestiny

The only reason you accept “killing, raping and stealing” as wrong is because of the Bible. Look at societies that don’t, either historically or today. Rape is an acceptable punishment; murder means only certain protected classes can’t be wantonly killed; stealing is justified by whoever is in power at the time. There’s nothing universal about moral values, except for their source. It didn’t take long for Hitler, Stalin and Mao, for example, to convince everyday people that murder is not just necessary but an ideal to be achieved. The first thing they smashed? Allegiance to G-d over the state. But you keep thinking you came up with your moral values independently.

      • TocksNedlog

Morality IS a power greater than yourself. Often, doing the right thing involves overcoming the selfish urge to do the wrong thing, or overcoming indifference as a consequence of the survival instinct.

      • tops116

Apparently Sarah is all for “having values and empathy”…except when it comes to people of faith. No empathy there! That’s only reserved for everyone else!

personally, i think that she, as well as others of her mindset, single out Christianity because they have more respect for the non-Christian religions. I don’t think it is solely because of fear of being targeted.

      • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

No, it is because we are a big target and we won’t fight back….physically at least. They don’t like Christianity because they were told not to, most have never picked up a Bible other than to read a few passages given to them by other atheists taken out of context in order to win an argument.

I agree that people should be kind because it’s the right thing to do; not because of the threat of eternal damnation.

        • http://www.black-and-right.com/ IceColdTroll

On what basis do you assert that it is the “right the thing to do,” as opposed, for example, to a Nietzschean “might makes right” ethos”? Or a Marxist/Communist “What serves the Party is right” morality?

PS — btw, any mature Christian would concur with your statement that it is something which should be done because it is the right thing to do. St Augustine of Hippo made that clear sometime around 375 AD. No, there are no digits missing from that date. You are WAY behind the curve on this!

        • TocksNedlog

Here’s an idea: instead of filling the prisons with rapists and murderers, let’s just have the government put out a series of PSA’s saying things like “Don’t kill your fellow man; why? because its the right thing to do.”

If someone doesn’t have the moral fortitude to criticize Islam (when they feel such criticism is warranted) then they should keep their mouth shut about other religions or spiritual practices.

  • Kleverabevera

Atheists are funny people. “Teach children values and empathy, because it is right.” What base do they have to stand on as to what constitutes “right.” The only base they can apply is the prevailing societal norm of the day. Eventually someone with bigger guns will show up and decide that burning people in ovens is right, and it also demonstrates empathy to all those people who wish to be unburdened of them.
I snicker when Penn says that he “loves” Sarah Silverman.” Why bother telling us? Love to these people means as much as the biochemical reaction a slug leaves behind it traveling on the sidewalk.

    • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

Yes, and the societal norm in this country especially has come about mostly because of Christianity. Ben Franklin, a known atheist, said himself that individual liberty could only thrive with a moral people and he said himself that Christianity was the best way to do so. People wonder why our success with individual liberty has never been duplicated elsewhere entirely, I believe it is because they didn’t have a strong Christian foundation to build it on like we did.

      • http://www.black-and-right.com/ IceColdTroll

Franklin was certainly a “freethinker,” but he was almost certainly no atheist.

“I’ve lived, Sir, a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing Proofs I see of this Truth — That God governs in the Affairs of Men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without his Notice, is it probable that an Empire can rise without his Aid? We have been assured, Sir, in the Sacred Writings, that except the Lord build the House they labor in vain who build it. I firmly believe this, — and I also believe that without his concurring Aid, we shall succeed in this political Building no better than the Builders of Babel: We shall be divided by our little partial local interests; our Projects will be confounded, and we ourselves shall become a Reproach and Bye word down to future Ages.”

Speech to the Constitutional Convention (28 June 1787)

This was just a few years before his death. If anything, his belief in God as a personal being, taking an interest in us as individuals rather than the detached, theoretical, intellectual God of the Deists, deepened as he lived.

        • http://extremesplash.wordpress.com/ Ben Bollman

My apologies, he was a Deist although he was not really a Christian either at least until like you said right before his death.

The Torah says: “If your enemy is going to kill you early in the morning. Wake up earlier and kill him first.”

Teaching them what’s “right”, Sarah?? You mean like abortion?? Same gender promiscuity?? Intolerance and hatred towards people of faith?? Morals beneath those of stray dogs and alley cats?? That sort of “right”, Sarah?? Young lady, you need to haul your perverted carcass into your neighborhood house of worship and get on your knees before the Lord. I will pray that you do just that. But I won’t hold my breath.

  • j p

Don’t underestimate how pervasive her beliefs are among the swelling “progressive” ranks. Her statement that believers are sociopaths portends the guidelines that may be used to deny gun permits based on psychiatric evaluation. Her plea for godless empathy and values is like the wolf telling the sheep that they need to run away from the shepherd to be trully free.

  • Right Wired

Well, that means she’s a addict & sociopath, because liberalism is a religion.

  • MarcusFenix

Silverman is about as relevant, and intelligent, as a dump I took in 2006. No one takes this woman seriously. It does, however, make me laugh everytime I see her get punched in the mouth during the opening to awesome movie “The Way of the Gun”.

Of course, if she’s suggesting that only mentally unstable people are religious, then….why isn’t she, with her very public issues.

Maybe she’s afraid to pee in the bed again. Who knows.

    • cgraham77

Ironically, bedwetting is an ACTUAL sign of sociopathy.

Not the only sign, of course, but it is (diagnostically) a sign! Fact.

Hey Sarah, NEWSFLASH: it’s called Projection!

      • MarcusFenix

I know, but good on ya for pointing it out. :) But people like Sarah don’t have time for facts, or an adult diaper, when they’re spewing crap outta their pie-holes.

        • cgraham77

Just think its funny that someone who is a self-professed “bedwetter” such as she is going to then call others sociopathic, when that is a hallmark of a sociopath! Haaaaa haaaaaaa!! What a dunce.

          • MarcusFenix

Well, liberals are notorious for double-speak and irony 😉

  • Mike Hegyi

If you need a god to tell you not to kill people, then you are a sociopath by definition. I think most people here don’t need that and are therefore not sociopaths. We have empathy for others. However, if a belief in an invisible super-man in the sky is the only thing standing in the way of you murdering children, then please never lose your silly beliefs.

    • TocksNedlog

Some people lack empathy; others lack comprehension.

  • tops116

For addicts and sociopaths? Then you’d think Silverman and the rest of Hollywood crowd would be all-too eager to find religion.

Also, I love the notion that someone in Hollywood wants to lecture about “values and empathy.” I’m not saying one needs religion to teach children those things. I certainly didn’t come from a religion family. I’m just saying that Hollywood as a whole has no concept of values or empathy, as evidenced by the way the vast majority conduct themselves on a daily basis. How many have had affairs? How many flip out over hearing a different point-of-view? How many hold themselves to the standard they demand of everyone else? Yeah, to be blunt, most Hollywood people are full of crap.

Hey, they’re welcome to lead their lives however they see fit, but I don’t need a lecture about how I should lead my life, especially from disposable trash like Silverman.

I certainly pity any child raised by Sarah Silverman. The kid(s) would have no moral values, no ethical standards and a mother who is a faithless piece of trash who projects her own addictions and sociopathy onto others to deflect her own.

Sarah Silverman is hardly relevant and puts out these tweets to garner attention. Ignorance is not a good look.
