Mary Katharine Ham nutshelled the smearfest witch hunt of HGTV’s Chip and Joanna Gaines by Buzzfeed writer Kate Aurthur brilliantly. And as our readers know, Buzzfeed Editor-in-Chief Ben Smith defended the hit piece. All while grousing about THIS non-existent event (Hint: It’s cuckoo pants). But here’s the thing: Any and all defenses of the witch hunt can be completely crushed with one simple question and idea.
