  • Jake Wilde

Careful Laura, it seems catastrophic events always bail them out ironically.

  • ObamaFail

Obama isn’t concerned with people’s safety! He only cares about government control and getting his way.

    • Jake Wilde

I don’t think people realize the options he ends up having by portraying the House as THE ineffective portion of the 3 branches of government.

  • MNWoman

My goal for today is not to be surprised by any absurd “shutdown” nonsense.

    • drw

I truly wish you every success. It is a worthy goal and would have been within the realm of possibility for someone as evidently intelligent as you seem as recently a few months ago. Today? Not so sure, as unbelievable as we’ve come to expect their actions to be they have shown a propensity to amaze and surprise with every fresh action. I’m afraid that their list is much more inclusive than a sane persons imagination could conceive.

    • J. Cox

What if they declared the entire southern border a national park?I would be happy for them to shut that one down.

      • Hiraghm

Long ago I began proposing that we return the land of DC to the respective States, but keep the capitol area as a museum/tourist attraction, and relocate the seat of gov’t to the four corners of Nebraska, Iowa, Missouri, and Kansas.

That would stick them in the middle of the country, and stick them away from any distractions, while preserving our historic monuments.

What would happen to the inhabitants of D.C.?

        Who is John Galt?

        • Finrod Felagund

There once was a proposal to move the seat of government to Metropolis, Illinois, on the Ohio River just a bit east of Cairo. I think we should revive this idea; after all, we couldn’t make Illinois any more liberal than it already is. I wouldn’t want to corrupt Nebraska or Iowa or Missouri or Kansas, personally.

        • JeffyTheQuick

They will move to the seat of power. They’re like those people in the commercials:

Aptly it’s the Progressive Power Suckers.

      • SkyePuppy

We’ve already got Big Bend National Park along a piece of the southern border. The NPS website says all national parks are closed. Any bets on whether they’ve quietly removed the yellow police tape from Big Bend to make it easier for illegals to come through?

    • David

      Wonderful post.

  • Aitch748

Meh. I’m still waiting for President Hissyfit to have his goons shutting down whole highways or airports or power plants. Gotta do whatever it takes to convince the masses that the shutdown of only 17% of our obese federal government will be a disaster for them.

    • ObamaFail

And meanwhile, the liberal sheeple are easily duped by his tactics, because they are easily manipulated.

    • Hiraghm

A young co-worker last night brought up the subject of the shutdown, asking if the rest of us knew the gov’t had shut down.
My first reaction was, “yeah, and nobody noticed”.
Then I calmly and politely explained to him how the gov’t has been shut down for awhile, how the House keeps passing bills to pay for various parts of the gov’t except Obamacare, and how the Senate keeps killing them because they don’t include funding Obamacare.

He disappeared for several hours, we still don’t know what became of him…

      • in_awe

he wandered off to become an Obamacare poster boy…like Chad. And to get a fresh load of daily BS talking liberal points

    • marylandman

I guess you don’t care about the children who rely on SNAP to eat, or the children getting turned away from clinical trials at NIH that could save their lives.

The GOP is quite literally killing children because they couldn’t get their way through legitimate means. Pathetic.

      • TexasMom2012

The GOP House has passed bills to fund SNAP, and the NIH along with everything except Obamacare because they believe Obamacare is bad for the country. Obamacare is the only major legislation ever passed (1/7 of our economy) along a single party line. The republicans were not even allowed in the room while the bill was put together. The Democrats have refused to allow a vote on the appropriations bills already passed. Harry Reid is directly responsible for not allowing children on cancer trials access to their care. Don’t try to sell the crap here that the Dems are for the children. They are for their pathetic selves. Harry Reid even acknowledged that they wouldn’t try to save a single child if they do not get their way. Remember Kathleen Sebilious denying a transplant for a child who would die without it. The Dems caring about children, at least those who escape abortion, is a myth unrelated to reality. They talk the talk, ad infantim, but they do not walk the walk. They care more about the overcrowding of felons in prisons than the risk to the children of releasing them into poor neighborhoods. Spit. Peddle your delusions elsewhere, everyone here knows better.

        • marylandman

So you think that Republicans should unilaterally decide what parts of the government to fund? Awesome idea, moron. Some real respect for our political system you have there. Why do we even have a Constitution when we really should just let the House Republicans decide everything?

“Remember Kathleen Sebilious denying a transplant for a child who would die without it.”

Haha oh, I didn’t know you were such a gullible idiot. My apologies.

And the overcrowding of prisons is a serious problem driven by Republicans’ for-profit prison system. Man you are dumb.

          • Swagner

“Ugh, you’re so dumb, only Democrats are allowed to govern, it’s not like congress passes budgets or anything, and did I mention you’re stupid?”
Argument ad hominem is the last resort of those with no logical points left. Obamacare is already an unqualified disaster, no system that cost so much and yet provides treatment or even “coverage” to so few could ever do anything but kill the sick and needy.

          • Corey Dennison

Be careful…you don’t want to stomp your little feet too much while throwing your little tantrum there; you may pop a vessel or stub a toe.

            Little crybaby.

          • marylandman

Throwing a tantrum? You think laughing at this website’s ignorance and stupidity is throwing a tantrum? Thanks for giving me more idiocy to chuckle over.

          • JeffyTheQuick

US Constitution, Article I, Section 7:

All Bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

I guess the #Spitehouse has to negotiate.

          • marylandman

Moron. You know so very very little.

          • JeffyTheQuick

Enlighten me, then. I noticed you hide your posts. Typical progressive, using lies and violence to further your cause against the very document that protects your freedom.

Just a note: as it has always been, the next generation will be more ruthless and violent than you, and tomorrow’s Progressives will hardly shed a tear when they dispense with you. You should read about two revolutions: the American and French. Then, you’ll see what happens.

          • marylandman

      • Corey Dennison

I know…remember when he was asked about funding NIH to save a child’s life, and Boehner said: “Why would we do that?”

        Oh wait…that was Reid.

You’re not very good at this, are you?

      • Paul

Uhhh… moron, this IS legitimate means. This is the way our system works. Read the effing Constitution you effing MORON.

The house has passed numerous resolutions funding truly important items, but President Stompy Foot and Dingy Harry refuse to negotiate. The Democrats refusal to negotiate is unprecedented in the history of our country and is actually un-Constitutional (by my interpretation of what the document says).

So anyway, if you want to spout off your ignorant proggie drone BS, I suggest you go to Daily Kos or some other proggie drone echo chamber, because in here, we will call BULLSHIT on your pathetic marxist punk ass.

        • marylandman

          haha so dumb

      • WisconsinPatriot

        Mary is a drive-by.

      • gman213

        You are one delusional moron!

      • JeffyTheQuick

You really do not know what the word, “literally” means, do you?

  • MLCross

Our petulant, little man-child of a President is playing hard ball now. Not with the Republicans with whom he refuses to compromise but with ordinary American citizens. What say you, are you a citizen to be served by your representative or are you a subject to be punished at the whim of your king?

  • notenoughtime

No ryhme or reason to anything they are closing but highlights the strategy that we have lived through for 5 years. No hope; no change; no future!

    • David

      No sense . . .

    • TexSizzle

Slight disagreement: The reason for what they are closing is to try to inflict the maximum inconvenience on the people in an attempt to get them to pressure the House. They don’t seem to realize that they are not winning the propaganda war like they had hoped they would.

  • j p✓ʳᵉᶠʳᶦᵉᵈ

And to paraphrase GWBush at Ground Zero……the rest of the world is hearing about Obama’s Spite House too.

  • Detective Sam Milos™

Looks about as good as the government can make it

  • GrumpyOne

Maximum inconvenience will yield the maximum anger. The question remains, who will get blamed?

I’m getting the feeling that even the dumbed down public is catching on and if I’m right, November 2014 will be hell to pay for liberal/progressive/democrats…

    • in_awe

The problem is the only coverage the MSM is giving to the “shutdown” is Harry Reid or some other rabid lib going off on the Republicans blaming them. You never hear the other side of the story. So, the lo-fo voters will vote based on all these bumpersticker lies (again…)

  • Kakarot

Am I the only one who suspects Stompy Foot is HOPING for an accident?

The bigger and messier, the better.

    • David

Obama hopes for disaster. It deflects from his criminal activities.

  • MLCross

I wonder when the Department of the Interior will shut down all Indian Reservations and make the residents move.

    • David

Cannot happen. Indian Reservations are sovereign entities. However, they remain open for government handouts.

      • MLCross

No, they are clearly not sovereign. The land they occupy is held in trust and managed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs. A Federal organization.
You could call them autonomous but not sovereign.

        • David

Your point is valid. It is quite complicated.

However I said the reservations are sovereign entities. Federal policies have backed this up. The Indian Self Determination Act, mid 70s, and the Indian Reorganization Act in the 30s recognize the sovereignty of Indian nations in governing. This includes election of tribal officials, law enforcement, tribal courts, tribal land management, determine who is and who isn’t a native, and assessments and allotments of funds.

  • sleeperd

He closed Normandy and is kicking seniors out of their homes in Lake Mead, NV..he’s chasing veterans away from the Wall..why isn’t he subject to arrest for malfeasance in office for assault on the American people?

    • JeffyTheQuick

      Article II, Section 4:

The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.

That one we can blame on Boehner and Reid. Pretty much, this says that the only way to get a President out is to impeach him, and have the Senate convict him with 2/3 of the votes. As we saw with Clinton (and Johnson), that’s no easy feat.

  • Kwisatz Haderach

    To All,

Start using Interior Dept IG complaint processes to report all of these FW&A and safety issues–time to start pushing-back on this Govt abuse… Pass it along to other sites!

  • David

“Today” Obama said, “I am announcing that planet Earth is shut down. Any alien craft and its occupants will be detained by Park Officials and not allowed to return to their homes until the Republicans give me everything I want.”

  • gman213

    Tyrant on the march!

  • Michael Rice

All of this is showing libs for who they really are.
Conservatives need to take advantage of it come election time.
If we survive until the Presidential elections we have a chance to take things back.
I don’t consider putting a RHINO in the house as taking things back, by the way,.
