Can you feel the empowerment, ladies? That’s right, Glamour thinks that Lena Dunham, who made the creepy “First Time” campaign ad for Obama, is a woman of the year! The woman-degrading ad likened voting to losing one’s virginity.  Conservative women pushed back at the ad for devaluing women and, once again, reducing them to the sum of their “lady parts.

One of the “women of the year?” Oh, please.

But, hey, that’s the new normal in Obama’s world. A woman is valued as a walking lady part only: Lady smarts need not apply.

  • Jimni27

So disappointed. Was expecting nothing less than the Nobel Peace Prize.

  • Libs_R_Wrong

What? Honey Boo Boo didn’t qualify???

    • Marcy Cook

Honey Boo Boo was too classy for this.

      • yahneverknow

        hee hee hee….

  • Marcy Cook

Lena is not only creepy but without some major face and body plastic surgery she will never be attractive. This is the best that Glamour can do?

    • stuckinIL4now

Yeah, she kinda takes the “glamour” out of Glamour.

  • kate_middleton

Ugh, couldn’t stand her before that Obama ad. REALLY can’t stand her now.

    • Dee

I’m amazed anyone knew of her before the Obama ad. Who is she?

      • kate_middleton

She is the writer/director/producer/star of this HBO “comedy” called “Girls”.

I watch almost all of the HBO original series, because they’re usually excellent, but this show was so ridiculous. It’s supposed to be this generation’s Sex and the City (4 girls, living in NYC, etc.) – but it’s hipster crap. The girls are crude, entitled and completely clueless. I’m only 30, and these girls are around 25, but they’re a world apart from me and my friends.

For example, in the first scene, Lena’s character tells her parents she “only” needs $1100 a month from them in order to be able to live. They cut her off, and she later steals the $20 tip they had left for their hotel maid.

        • Silenttype78

“For example, in the first scene, Lena’s character tells her parents she “only” needs $1100 a month from them in order to be able to live. They cut her off, and she later steals the $20 tip they had left for their hotel maid.”

EVERYTHING about that is soooooooo lib-prog!
Dependency and theft from those who work.
The only thing missing is criticizing the maid for working hard.

          • kate_middleton

Yep – it made me sick. I think she was also working an unpaid (or very low paid) internship that she’d been at for years. She quit or got fired (I really can’t remember). Someone suggests she work at McDonald’s, and she goes on a long rant about how she would never do that.

There’s also a lot of nudity, unhealthy relationships and extremely awkward sex. And this crap was nominated for multiple Emmys.

An ironic thing is that the actresses are all children of famous people – Brian Williams’ daughter, David Mamet’s daughter, Dunham’s parents are “famous” artists, and the other girl’s dad was the drummer in some bands, including Bad Company.

I hated the show – yet, I kept watching the show, just so I could talk more about how much I hated it. Too much time on my hands? Yes.

          • Silenttype78

            You are too funny! :)

          • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

Wait, is her mother, by chance, Stanley Ann Dunham? (hardy har har!)

          • Jim Denney

Could be … S.A.D. (ironic acronym, eh?) was allegedly a porn pioneer back in the day. I can’t swear to that, but I could testify truthfully that both women are decidedly non- photogenic.

          • Maria

Well that description pretty much sums up the thought pattern of privileged 25 and unders. (There ARE exceptions, obviously as there are young Republicans.)

          • It’s just me again

Ewww! Glad I don’t bother with HBO.

  • Silenttype78

    This is offensive!
I’m so sick of these walking vulva-Obama-zombies heaping praise on women who perpetuate stereotypes about women while pointing their fingers at people who would never treat them as badly as they treat themselves!!!!!

You DO NOT speak for ME!

For the love of all that is good could they not have found some lady who had actually accomplished something worth while to praise????

    • michael s

like jenna jameson or tawny kitaen.

      • Silenttype78

Last I checked neither of them demand you or I or anyone else pay for their necessities or frivolities.
Come to think of it they are actually doing just fine during this “horrific ” “War on Women “.

      • Ironhawk86

At least those women were hot at one point. I could feel my balls retracting into my body the second I first laid eyes on this Lena Dunham creature. Is she the spawn of Jeff Dunham and one of his puppets? Cause something about her does not seem entirely human.

        • Concerned

I know I remember seeing her in the as and she gave me this creepy feeling like she had cooties. I didn’t know who this was supposed to appeal to bc it certainly could not have appealed to any self respecting independent woman.

        • Maria

Yes, she is the offspring of Jeff and Peanut. She got her Liberalism from Peanut who voted for Obama because neither of them have real birth certificates.

      • It’s just me again

Two women who have chosen their own paths, support themselves and don’t ask for hand outs from my tax dollars? Yep, they’ll do.

      • Maria

What about Stacey Dash? Hell I’d take Melissa Joan Hart over Lena Dunham. She has class.

  • JGMZ

Glamour magazine has been reducing women to their “lady parts” for years – half the magazine is about sex, so it’s no wonder that they picked the poster child of objectification.

However, shouldn’t they have picked someone who doesn’t look like a dude?

    • Silenttype78

I now have to actively distract my kids when we get to the check out line because the descriptive details on the cover of these trash mags are humiliating!

      • JGMZ

Some of the ones I go to actually hide the cover language from public view. However, all that fawning over 50 Shades of Grey didn’t do much to help the cause that women aren’t all about sex.

        • Silenttype78

No kidding! I was so sick of hearing about it! Even if I had the time or interest I wouldn’t have read it because lib-prog women were peddling it-my anger runs deep!

          It’s all just humiliating!
Thank you for helping to shield kids from garbage! :)

          • Stephanie Warren

50 shades of gray is just a plagiarized Twilight fanfic anyway.

  • Liberal Hater

Well that was a low bar.

  • Annie P.

As a young, straight, Hispanic (and Conservative!) woman who loves Twitchy, I realize I’m a minority. Like you, I don’t get Ms. Dunham’s appeal and I HATED her virginity/Vote for Obama ad.

*However*, to the commenter below, saying a woman’s appearance help determine her merits is pretty un-Conservative, downright shameful and not something I hope the girls in her family grow up believing. Liberal or not, “Glamour” has always been about empowering women, and our beauty (or alleged lack thereof) ≠ success. Let’s not be mean girls; we have no right to judge someone else’s attractiveness.

Also, I may not agree with *anything* Ms. Dunham stands for BUT I do appreciate the strides she (and many others, incl. Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Mindy Kaling, etc.) has taken to further the perception of women in the media, Hollywood, and the workplace in general. We CAN be triple/quadruple+ threats and our appearance and political views are/should be irrelevant.

I just don’t think judging someone’s (in this case Ms. Dunham’s) accomplishments purely based on her political stance is fair when they have respectable merits. (OK, maybe not “respectable” to some as her show [who she created and stars in] may be advocating all kinds of Liberal tenets.) We Conservatives need to stand up for what we believe in: we can’t demean someone’s success simply b/c they’re Liberal; we’re *much* better than that.

Having said that, how about we propose some other women “Glamour” should have considered for/named Woman of the Year instead of barraging this choice?

    • Alicia Hake

      I say we nominate Michelle.

    • lazypadawan

What?! You sound like a staffer from “Glamour.” First of all, “Glamour” celebrates a left-wing, baby killing, promiscuous party girl lifestyle where your job exists to subsidize closets full of shoes, bags, and weed, and Uncle Suga Daddy Sam subsidizes the rest. I find nothing empowering about leading gullible women into an empty life of debt, regret, venereal diseases, and emptiness. I don’t care if they throw in a token plus sized girl or a token minority. My mom gets Glamour for free and I find nothing of value in it but for the occasional coupon. Besides, you tell me what’s empowering about Miss Dunham flinging her clothes off in every episode of her dumb show? The message is always the same to young women and girls: it’s all about your T&A. As for Poehler, Kaling, Fey, etc. screw them. They’ve made it very clear they’re only about one kind of woman, the kind of woman who helped sink the U.S. of A.. Let them inspire their own tribe of drooling followers. I got better things to do.

      • Silenttype78

        Love it!
        Agree 100%!

    • TugboatPhil

I will take exception with one point you made. Any strides that Fey, Poehler and other prominent women in the entertainment field have made to further the cause of women’s equality in the workplace has to be viewed in light of some of the incredibly degrading, insulting and downright vile statements they’ve made about Conservative women in politics and news merely because they differ in ideology.

It’s not even just the things they say themselves, but consider the Limbaugh controversy over his “slut” remark about Sandra Fluke. The liberal women were all over that to denounce him, Conservatives at large and Republicans. But when Bill Maher and other liberal entertainers use the words C*nt and Tw*t in reference to female Conservatives, there is total silence on their part.

They are all for women, as long as those women agree completely with them on every topic.

    • Slam1263

“Also, I may not agree with *anything* Ms. Dunham stands for BUT I do appreciate the strides she (and many others, incl. Oh wait, you’re serious.
      Let me laugh even harder!
These people have made a career out of besmirching other women! Oh Sweet, Black Humor and Irony!!

      • FreedomRecon

That’s not the only funny. I find it funny that these “liberated women” were the ones burning their bras for their freedoms so they didn’t have to be attached to a man/husband, only to trade in said man/husband for the government. The government is the “lib woman’s” husband. Totally dependent on it for everything including their contraception.

    • Concerned

So basically she should just get the ugly vote to prove you don’t have to be pretty? Maybe if she actually did something else to contribute to good.

    • Maria

She portrays women as nothing but walking Lady Parts. Tina Fey’s a loud mouthed Liberal. I could go on. They don’t really empower Conservative women. Just Liberal automatons like themselves.

I used to love ‘Glamour’ back in the mid to late 90’s, but it’s complete and utter garbage now.

  • TugboatPhil

Don’t you have to be a woman to win that?

    • AMERICAN Kafir™(KAdams)

No, you have to be a ‘women’ as it is the ‘Women of the year’ award.

  • conservativechick

HAHAHA This reminds me of the ILLEGAL ALIEN MAID, Nicky Diaz, who got an immigrant rights award at an LA GALA event, instead of being DEPORTED for lying on her employment form under penalty of law, stole a SS number and had a fake Driver’s license. The left floors me sometimes! HAHAHA Such role models.

  • Streetiebird

Well done Lena! The right just has a hard time connecting with single women. The rightwing media distorted Sandra Fluke into a caricature that their followers didn’t even understand, and were OUTRAGED by this funny Obama ad. Hopefully the rightwing media will realize they were the ones that put concrete shoes on Romney.

    • TugboatPhil

Do you think the right wing media will realize that before or after you and the Democrats realize that you have put concrete shoes on the US economy for another decade or more?

      • WorkignAmerican

Exactly! I’m an independent female, but conservative. Never took a dime from the gov’t. I love how these useless democrats think all women are on their side. Take a look at the jobs & you’ll see what the democrats are – psychologists (most are crazy), arts majors (useless), African studies (useless), female studies (useless). Most of them couldn’t put a house together, couldn’t fix a damn thing. All white collar jobs that when the economy goes where it is going are called unemployed & when the economy is going they are usually employed by the gov’t. Social services – they want to people to be dependent because they wouldn’t have a job otherwise.

        • Maria

Yeah when I was single, I never took a penny from the government either. Didn’t have to. I had too much pride–and a job. Then again that was when Bush was in office and jobs were prevalent unlike this True Unemployment being 14+%

    • Slam1263

      You tell ’em StreetieWalker.
Now back to your corner, makes me some money.

    • michael s

They’re just mad because 7,000,000 more women voted for Pres Obama ,than their loser of a candidate. Now if Angie Harmon won all we’d hear about about is how Glamour magazine is making sense. BAM.

      • nc

You’re comparing Angie Harmon to Lena “Any Time” Dunham? I can’t believe I just put them in the same sentence.

      • TugboatPhil

No. He’s happy that the Democrat Plantation now has 7 million more slaves.

      • Maria

So you’re saying the majority of women (Liberals) who voted in the last election are self-centered, moronic femme nazis who have no idea about finances? Got it! I believe you.

    • Maria

I guess there’s not a lot of Conservative single women because men just snap us right up at an early legal age since we’re intelligent, thoughtful, giving, attractive (mostly because of our personalities) and good with finances. Liberal women are mostly slutty, immoral, angry, PMSy, shoppaholics (even when they don’t have the money), gold diggers, and/or homely looking. Men just can’t stand Liberal femme nazis. Your side has the dregs of the female gender. lol See Sandra Fluke for more (no we didn’t distort her, she is what she is, haha).
I wouldn’t expect you to know what a woman truly is, Streetiewalker.

      • Streetiebird

LOL what wonderful (and wrong) stereotypes :) If you didn’t distort Sandra, then you know she was only asking for PRIVATE insurers to cover cheap contraception for women since they already provide ridiculously expensive procedures for men, like penile implants. I live in California, where we have beautiful amazing intelligent women who are also compassionate liberals. Conservative women are great too, don’t get me wrong, but there’s something about having an open mind that is so sexy.

  • Tootie MCGee

Am I the only person who had never heard of this woman before that video? I keep seeing her name thrown around as if she’s some household name. Or am I just out of the loop?

    • Silenttype78

      No, you are not alone!
I had no idea who this gal was before the the ad.
I never know who these people are.
It does not appear that we are missing much!

      • Concerned

Even if you did know of lots of them, like me, you still wouldn’t know who she is. I was stunned when I saw the ad.

    • stuckinIL4now

Me neither, never heard of her before and if I never hear about her again it’ll be too soon. Seriously, she’s a Sandra Fluke look-a-like–scary.

  • RowdyRepublican

Sandra Fluke will be disappointed and jealous…as she is queen of lady parts.

  • medicinewomantwo

Don’t purchase the magazine or cancel your subscription……….surely you can find something else to do.

  • ZoriahShepard

  • Basset_Hound

Why on earth are there no conservative fashion magazines? Conservative magazines seem to be all about persuasion. Don’t get me wrong! I enjoy reading National Review and Human Events, but WHEN are conservatives going to get past their predjudices and realize that IT’S OK JUST TO ENTERTAIN PEOPLE. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH PICTURES AND EMOTIONS.

  • Elizabeth

Exactly why I don’t buy silly magazines and watch liberal movies and TV programs. Too much propaganda! My children are finally waking up, and not purchasing these propaganda tools for their children and they are now watching more family friendly movies.

  • Teresa Davis McCormick

Like Glamour knew anything about smart women before. Asses

  • stuckinIL4now

Does anyone who’s intelligent ever really care about these “somethings” of the year or sexiest on earth awards? Who remembers the recipients of any of these awards the day after they’re named? I know I don’t.

  • michael s

She was part of the WINNING 55% of the women that voted for Pres Obama . Not the LOSING 43% that voted for Romney. are you going to attack Karen Hughes who just stated if another Republican man redifines rape ,I wasnt to cut his tongue out. Karen said that because many of her friends college age daughters voted for Obama and were turned off by the Neanderthal comments like the suggestion of legitimate rape. BOOM. Is conservative Karen Hughes one of those who thinks with her lady parts?

    • Maria

It just shows 55% of voting women are idiots like you.

      • michael s

Maybe so. What’s your view on Karen Hughes recent comments?

    • WorkignAmerican

You idiots don’t seem to understand the history of voting in this country. If we all voted to make murder legal, does that mean that the people are correct? Romney was right – there are too damn many leeches in this country. Apparently you democrats admit that you are too damn stupid & lazy to get off the subsidies.

  • EastValleyConservative

Well, there’s yet another magazine that will need a subsidy or die. FORWARD. (gag)

  • Tam

I bet sandra fluke is upset

  • VirginiaGirl

What a depraved society we live in….

  • orringtonmom (D)

Glamour… i don’t think it means what they think it means. but hey, congratulations on your achievement. setting the women’s movement back is really… something.

  • TheOriginalDonald

Glamour giving a Woman Of The Year award to this fat tub o lard? #INCONCEIVABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Paul C.

This is where our country is at thanks to Obummer and it will get worse. he has empower all the loons out of the closet

  • Stephanie Warren

So the girl with those empty souless eyes who gave me the heeber jeebers the moment I saw her won an award. Where’s my barf bucket?

  • Maria

If anyone should be the “Woman of the Year” I’d say Stacey Dash. At least she has class, and is a looker.

    • michael s

I would have no problem with that. I support Stacey Dash.
