Journalists at the Boston Globe and other MSM outlets love to think of themselves as crusaders for freedom of speech, as reporter Brian Bender’s tweet demonstrates.

But when Muslim lunatics threatened to kill the cartoonists who drew Mohammed cartoons for a Danish newspaper back in 2006, let’s not forget that The Globe failed to stick up for the cartoonists’ right to freedom of expression:

Freedom of expression is not the only value at issue in the conflict provoked by a Danish newspaper’s publication of cartoons satirizing Islam’s founding prophet, Mohammed … As with the current consensus against publishing racist or violence-inciting material, newspapers ought to refrain from publishing offensive caricatures of Mohammed in the name of the ultimate Enlightenment value: tolerance.

By strong contrast, dozens of brave bloggers published the Mohammed cartoons in a show of solidarity with the cartoonists. (One of the cartoonists was later attacked by an ax-wielding Muslim extremist.)

If the New York Times Company wants to sell one of its struggling papers, so be it. But let’s hope they leave the paeans to free speech at home. We’re not as gullible as they think.

And good luck to all of their socialist hack reporters and editors trying to find work in the miserable Obamunist economy they helped create. Maybe Liz Warren can get them jobs in one of her people’s casinos.

“…fierce commitment to First Amendment.” A joke, right?

as for the Second? ah….not so much.

Even a high school journalism student knows without the Second, you would HAVE no First.

For them, not so much the first either. Unless of course, it promotes Dems and trashes Republicans and Conservatives.

    Boston Globe failed to keep up with the tastes of the Comrades, whom they serve;
marketing themselves honestly, as a comic, might have saved their circulation.

  • QBallBrazil

Going to call it: Al Jazeera is going to buy it.

Well more like NYT already sold it to them, and this “auction” is a set up to avoid any public relation/opinion mess.

  • nc

Boston Globe, “storied” and “fierce?” Try “fiction” and “fizzle.”

  • Paul Citro

NYT owns the Boston Globe……….need I say more.

  • HansonBro

May the paper die the painfully slow death it so richly deserves.

If The Boston Globe fails, crumbles and fall in the middle of the city. Will its readers notice?

    • BeeKaaay

      They have readers?

Their subscribers know how to read?

  • Patrick Dennehy

The Globe is a joke, I read the Herald.

  • Mellow Melon

BUY IT! Someone on the right wing with the bucks should buy it! I love what they’re saying on RedState – those of us with the connections and the money should try to buy out some of the mainstream media outlets.
