A few years ago, Whoopi Goldberg claimed that film director Roman Polanski didn’t commit “rape rape.”
We’re not sure, but we think her point was that not all rapes are the same, i.e., some rapes are forcible and other kinds (like statutory rape?) are not.
Does that sound a lot like what Rep. Todd Akin said when he referred to “legitimate rape”? Why, yes. Yes it does:

Apparently when Todd Akin referred to "legitimate rape" what he really meant was "rape rape" as previously explained by Whoopi Goldberg.
