What, no pom-poms and “rah-rah-econo-meh” from the usual suspects today?

Here’s why: Putting a positive spin on 7.3 percent unemployment is a fast track to beclownment no matter how cute the Left thinks its Obama cheerleader uniforms are.

We’re looking at downward revisions of June and July employment numbers and a 35-year low in workforce participation.

C’mon, give us an “O!”

Or not.

As always, the White House whips out the pom-poms.

Chairman of the Council of Economic Advisers Jason Furman swears “the recovery has been durable in the face of several headwinds.”

There is a guy who commented on this story in my local paper’s site blaming the Republicans and their “voodoo trickle-down economics” for this. Wow.

    • Stephen L. Hall

See . . . it really is voodoo . . . they don’t have to be anywhere near to magically affect the economy.

By the time liberals leave college the brainwash is usually complete, to late to debate with fact. Hence, I have met intellegent liberals, but never any with common sense.

  • skeptic192

The war on the middle class is almost as successful as the war on coal if I am reading my utility bill correctly. Do I trust government statistics when they have to make a 33% downward revision on the party in power’s job crreation – you bet. Guess what the predictions are for a strike on Syria that will have no unintended consequences?

  • therealguyfaux

So, if we eliminate jobless people who have given up on looking for work, Hey! Presto!, the unemployment rate comes down!

Which, to my mind, has always sounded a bit like the small town police chief and the coroner agreeing that the fellow with the skull caved in with the lead pipe, shot six times and stabbed fifteen times, died of natural causes– “You get all that s#it done to you, it’s going to naturally cause you to die!”

In other words, you re-define the problem, rather than investigate the cause for it, like “Why the hell should I get off unemployment/welfare, where I have Medicaid, and go out and look for and take a part-time job– the only ones being offered to people with my skills– with a small company where I get paid bupkis and don’t get health insurance? Riddle me that, Batman!”

    • RLEE

Just because you call it giving up looking what it really means is they are no longer able to get unemployment that doesn’t mean they don’t go out and look for jobs!! As conservatives we cant have it both ways I see people complain all the time about how Obama has ruined the job market, then people turn around and talk about how lazy everybody is cause they don’t want to work? Of course we have people that are lazy and want free stuff but don’t make it out that every one out of work are like that! Plus were I live there are so many illegals taking jobs and more and more companies wanting people to be by lingual. Also all states are not the same when it comes to welfare some states still only let you have cash assistance for a year or two then never again like my state we don’t have free housing were we live so its not like if you choose not to work you can sit around and live comfortably maybe in some states this is true but not all

With WWIII looming just around the corner, people will be lined up to join the military and work in factories just like after Pearl Harbor. That can fix the unemployment issue right there.

Maybe he should aim that “laser-like focus” elsewhere, since he doesn’t know how it works.

“The drop in the unemployment rate is an example of the unemployment rate can fall for bad, rather than good, reasons.”
