In a letter to fellow lawmakers, Rep. Paul Ryan has endorsed Georgia Rep. Tom Price to be the next chairman of the Republican Conference.

Ryan emphasized the need to have “proven leaders at the helm of our policy and communication strategies.”

I have had the privilege of working with Congressman Price on a myriad of different issues over the years, and I know he is uniquely qualified for the job of Conference Chairman. He was instrumental in drafting our House Republican budget. His vocal leadership on issues like health care, tax reform, and fiscal matters has been vital to our messaging and policy efforts.

No one will work harder than Congressman Price at building a strong and compelling communications and policy strategy that reflects the will of our membership and the needs of the nation.

Price is running against Boehner’s pick, GOP Conference vice chair Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

On “Fox News Sunday,” Price said “no” when asked if he agreed with Speaker Boehner that Obamacare was here to stay.

“I can tell you, as a physician, we’re not opposed to the president’s health care law because of this election. We’re opposed because it’s bad policy and it’s bad for patients all across this land,” Price said.

Boehner recently said “the election changes that” when asked if he will continue efforts to repeal the law. “Obamacare is the law of the land,” he said.

Other conservatives are making the case for Cathy McMorris Rodgers:

Nominate one for Speaker and the other for conference chair. They’re both good candidates. Let’s get leadership in the House who can fight and not surrender.

Ha! I love that now that the election is over and everyone sees that Malkin, Coulter, Limbaugh, and all the rest are what lost the election for them, they are deserting in droves. Goodbye Malkin. Don’t let the door hit cha where the good Lord split cha!

Cathy accomplishments pretty much shadows Toms. Tom looks like a messenger and Cathy looks like a doer. I guess it comes down to a politician or statesman?

    whoo hoo! That’s my congressman!

He’s also a physician when not in DC, orthopeadics. This is one reason he was so opposed to ACA.

Boehner is right, Obamacare is not going away. GOP would need to win House, Senate and Presidency for that to happen and by the time 2016 rolls around Obamacare will be too deeply embedded. GOP needs a better plan on getting the middle and that includes women and hispanics. Get off the abortion thing. It is a losing issue. Get a sound and fair immigration plan in place. Hold their ground on spending.
