Katie Pavlich would like to remind those criticizing Fox News anchor Heather Nauert as President Trump’s nominee be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations that we’ve heard this story before.
Ah, I see the same folks who said Nikki Haley wasn’t qualified to be UN Ambassador are saying the same about Heather Nauert. All garbage. Haley was incredible, Nauert will do a terrific job standing up to the world’s worst regimes. Very much looking forward.

And we have seen some criticism of Nauert’s nomination based on her qualifications (or lack thereof).
Heather Nauert has been a terrific @statedeptspox . That job is to read talking points and explain policy. UN Ambassador, however, is very different job, usually requiring foreign policy and/or diplomatic expertise.

The appointment of Heather Nauert to the UN job is a travesty–she is not qualified for it, she's a flack not a diplomat. The appointment is essentially the president's latest slap in the face to the UN, to the international system, & to diplomacy.

Heather Nauert, the woman Trump just announced as his next U.N. Ambassador pick, had little experience in government or foreign policy before joining the admin in April 2017. Before that, she had been an anchor and correspondent for Fox News, including on the 'Fox and Friends.'

Ok, I’ll say it. With Heather Nauert, Trump isn’t nominating. He’s casting.

President Trump announced on Friday that Nauert would be nominated to serve as U.N. ambassador after heretofore being a spokesperson for the State Department.
I am pleased to announce that Heather Nauert, Spokeswoman for the United States Department of State, will be nominated to serve as United Nations Ambassador. I want to congratulate Heather, and thank Ambassador Nikki Haley for her great service to our Country!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) December 7, 2018
Thank you, Mr. President, for your confidence in me. I am humbled by your intent to nominate me as @USUN Ambassador and, if confirmed, look forward to continuing the outstanding job Amb. Haley has done representing your Administration and the American people. https://t.co/EnueFFPoFR

Outgoing ambassador Haley echoed congratulations for Nauert.
RT @USUN: Congratulations to Heather Nauert on her nomination by the President to be the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. We wish you well and look forward to supporting you through the transition and beyond. ??

The position of U.N. ambassador is also being downgraded from cabinet level to non-cabinet level going forward.
