On Fox News last night, President Donald Trump told Laura Ingraham that the plan now is to build tent cities along the border to house asylum seekers until they’re able to get their day in court:
TRUMP: If they applied for asylum, we’re going to hold them until such time as their trial takes place.
INGRAHAM: Where? We have the facilities?
TRUMP: We’re going to put up — we’re going to build tent cities.

And when a judge rules that the asylum seeker doesn’t qualify, they’ll be sent back. Notably, President Trump admits here that the tent city will hopefully act as a deterrent to keep those that don’t qualify for asylum from applying for asylum in the first place:

This sounds a lot like what happened during the Obama administration when asylum seekers were detained together as family units.
Also, this move may also finally make a dent in the cartel monopoly of the “labor-trafficking business”:
Trump tells Ingraham he'll use tent cities to end catch, release & work for migrants. Dems/biz/progressives will oppose cos' global human rights. But Trump also would throttle cartels' labor-trafficking business. Dems/biz/progressives will oppose that too? https://t.co/nP8Q0mxq0p

Anyway, with the “tent city” announcement, this report from Mark Knoller yesterday on just what the military will be doing at the border makes more sense:
The additional troops deployed to border will provide logistical support, medical aid, housing, transportation and a combined command post to assist @CBP with border and immigration enforcement. The 5,200 addtl solidiers includes 800 on the way from Ft. Campbell and Ft. Knox.
