Cindy McCain approves:
Jon Kyl is a dear friend of mine and John’s. It’s a great tribute to John that he is prepared to go back into public service to help the state of Arizona.

And Kyl is actually “sherpa-ing” Brett Kavanaugh through his SCOTUS nomination and will “now get to vote on confirming him”:
Jon Kyl, who is currently sherpa-ing Brett Kavanaugh in his nomination to the Supreme Court, will now get to vote on confirming him.

Update. The White House is reportedly not happy with the pick:
According to a source familiar, the WH is not pleased w/ the Kyl appointment, largely because they wanted someone who will run in 2020. Per same source, Kyl is holding the seat until Kirk Adams, Ducey's chief of staff, can run for it in two years.
