This statement from the National Football League Players Association makes no sense. Why would the players cancel community service events in the D.C. area that have nothing to do with the White House?

Cancelling on the kids to own the the president?
Not sure I understand the reason the NFLPA should not have the players coming to D.C. for service events just because President Trump doesn't want to host them. https://t.co/GTKuKcfL6A

NFL players' union says there were "several player-led community service events for young people in the Washington DC area" today that were cancelled because of the White House uninviting the Eagles.
(Couldn't the team still come down and do those events…?) https://t.co/ANf5EV7pRP

And instead of meeting with the president or the kids, the Eagles are having a team workout (OTA means Organized Team Activity):
Source says some Eagles players were planning to do community events in DC instead of visiting White House, but after White House canceled the visit, the team canceled the entire trip. Eagles will have an OTA practice today in Philly instead. https://t.co/tPEXMGWIPb

Prediction: This news cycle ends with an apology for the Eagles and another win for Donald Trump.
