There was a report out over the weekend that alleged the White House hired an Israeli company last year to compile dirt — a dossier, if you will — on former Obama staffers involved in the Iran deal

According to The Guardian, the targets of intel were former Obama staffers Ben Rhodes and Colin Kahl:
People in the Trump camp contacted private investigators in May last year to “get dirt” on Ben Rhodes, who had been one of Barack Obama’s top national security advisers, and Colin Kahl, deputy assistant to Obama, as part of an elaborate attempt to discredit the deal.

To Rhodes, this alleged dirty dossier is something that should not be acceptable in a democracy:

We have no idea whether or not this dossier story is true — but is he really trying to tell us that compiling dirt on one’s political enemies is now something that’s a threat to democracy in America? Or maybe, the Trump dossier is different than Rhodes alleged dossier:

Maybe Rhodes’ “breathless focus” means “really bad stuff” is coming out on Obama and the Iran deal?
FWIW, the Israeli firm Black Cube, which is not mentioned by name in the article linked to above, denied that they were hired to gather dirt on the Obama staffers. Of note, this is the same firm linked to Harvey Weinstein which is another irony lost on the former Obama staffers who were the alleged targets of the GOP dirty tricks:
