Meet Jen Spyra, a writer for “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.” She thought it would be a good idea to joke about Barbara Bush’s appearance after the former first lady passed away on Tuesday at the age of 92:
RIP Barbara Bush, the only woman who was 92 for 30 years.

We’ll just go ahead and add the screenshot here as this will probably get deleted in short order:
Maybe Spyra isn’t aware of this, but Barbara Bush started going gray at age 28, after the death of her daughter, Robin, from leukemia. From the Washington Post:
Barbara Bush described the death of her daughter and the grief that followed as an agony made more bearable by her relationship with her husband. Later, she would marvel that the tragedy that splits many couples had brought them closer.
[…]
It was during this period, at age 28, that Barbara’s dark hair began to go white giving her the gray coiffure that would become known to the world. But the Bushes thrived. They had three more children, including another girl, Dorothy.
Needless to say, folks weren’t happy with the professional comedy writer’s attempt at humor on such a sad day:
Garbage tweet, for a garbage writer, of a garbage show. Fitting. https://t.co/5bjaVvI8cH

Wow, this is so tone deaf a few hours after a wonderful woman passed away. @StephenAtHome, @colbertlateshow – what will you do about your employee’s disgraceful statement? https://t.co/QQsjLSPcWH

But since it’s Colbert, don’t expect any anger from the same people who supported a boycott of Laura Ingraham:
Another classy tweet for Barbara Bush. This time from a writer for Colbert. There will be no repercussions because liberals operate by another set of rules. Imagine if she said this about David Boycott Hogg. https://t.co/IFwrTtQ47S https://t.co/IFwrTtQ47S

But we are watching to see if there’s any reaction from Stephen Colbert because this was a really bad tweet:

Editor’s note: A typo was corrected in the headline.
