Trump’s exact words from the joint address:
In Chicago, more than 4,000 people were shot last year alone –- and the murder rate so far this year has been even higher.
Which means Trump was not only correct on the number shot in Chicago last year, but on his claim that 2017 is on track to be worse than 2016. From the Chicago Tribune:
