Whoops!
Apparently the Minnesota GOP forgot to file the proper paperwork on time to ensure that Donald Trump and Mike Pence appear on the November ballot.
MN GOP officials screwed up, and Trump's not on the ballot in the state right now – https://t.co/xRY9mrKeaz

Trump wasn't on Minnesota ballot yet because convention hadn't named alternate electors. Party did last night. Will file before deadline.

The error was reported by Michael Brodkorb last night when he noticed that Trump wasn’t on the sample ballot online:
Question to @MNSteveSimon -> Why is Donald Trump not listed on the sample ballot available on the SOS website? pic.twitter.com/t7F4EvM610
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 24, 2016
It was then discovered that the Minnesota GOP had not yet filed the paperwork:
So, @MNSteveSimon website's provides a great way to get info on candidates – but Trump isn't listed, because #MNGOP hasn't filed info. Wow.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
And the state party had no idea it hadn’t been done:
UPDATE: A top #mngop official was completely unaware paperwork had not been submitted to SOS to ensure Trump's name was on the ballot in MN.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
Panic mode, engaged:
UPDATE: #MNGOP leadership in meeting NOW to certify presidential electors (elected in May). SOS will be sent Trump info likely tomorrow.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
UPDATE: Total confusion among #MNGOP officials on process for Trump being on MN ballot – absolutely possible they could've missed deadline.

Q facing #MNGOP: Why did they wait until the 11th hour to process paperwork to ensure Trump was on the ballot in MN. Holding out for a hero?
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
Now here’s where it gets confusing and why it’s not clear if Trump has made the ballot or not:
UPDATE: Late night #MNGOP meeting leaves many wondering if party needed to clean up procedural problem before sending Trump info to SOS.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
UPDATE: The #MNGOP failed to elect alternate presidential electors – so the state exec committee did it tonight – without clear authority.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
So after electing the alternate electors tonight, the #MNGOP will submit Trump/Pence names to SOS office for placement on MN ballot.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
No procedure for #MNGOP state exec to elect/appoint national electors – problem now for #MNGOP in sending Trump's name to SOS for ballot.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
The cleanest way for #MNGOP to solve mess is to call state convention to elect alternate national delegates – but they can't, no time.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
Again: Process for Trump to be on MN ballot. #MNGOP didn't officially elect alternate electors – trouble ahead? Yep. pic.twitter.com/oaEZQEw3AA

As of this morning, it’s still unclear what’s going to happen next:
To recap: Delay in Trump's name appearing on MN ballot caused by #MNGOP not electing alternate electors – #MNGOP missed key step. Fixed? ?
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
UPDATE: Last night #MNGOP "appointed" alternate electors to fix problem – BUT this isn't allowed in #MNGOP constitution – so we have a mess.
— Michael Brodkorb (@mbrodkorb) August 25, 2016
We’ll update this post as soon as we have more information.
