Reports: @Reince 'apoplectic' over Trump/Ryan; GOP officials preparing if Trump 'drops out'

Make him sign some sort of pledge, @Reince! That always works. https://t.co/erHTr4pagf

Katy Tur of NBC News reports that RNC Chairman Reince Priebus is “apoplectic” with Donald Trump’s refusal to endorse Paul Ryan:

Top republican: @Reince is 'apoplectic' over Trump's refusal to back Ryan. He called several Trump staffers to express his displeasure.

More from same source: The next 24 to 72 hours are crucial. There is serious talk about key Republicans coming out hard against Trump.

And there’s a report from ABC News this morning that GOP officials are preparing just in case Trump “drops out”:

Priebus "furious," per @jonkarl. Senior GOP officials "actively exploring" how to replace Trump on ballot if he drops out. @GMA

No mechanism to replace Trump as nominee unless he withdraws himself. Then it would be left to RNC to name a replacement.

The idea that Trump would drop out is some pretty desperate magical thinking. https://t.co/qSsNjGMPS8

And is this even true?

What evidence is there he's thinking of dropping out? https://t.co/JDGwgHCYlO

If he drops out? I haven't seen any signs that @realDonaldTrump is contemplating dropping out. Wishful thinking? https://t.co/sIRJt1z44L
