With the second summit between President Trump and NK’s Kim Jong Un taking place in Vietnam on Wednesday, the Vietnam Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a sudden announcement that came as a surprise to the White House press corps:
???FYI:
the American Media Center will be relocated from Melia hotel to International Media Center at 91 Tran Hung Dao Hanoi#DPRKUSA #HanoiSummit— MoFAVietNam Spokesperson (@PressDept_MoFA) February 26, 2019
CNN’s Jim Acosta is among those impacted:
Translation: The US press is being booted out of the hotel where we have spent days setting up our workspace. https://t.co/UkkmskqBQe
— Jim Acosta (@Acosta) February 26, 2019
Could this be the reason for the last-minute change?
The North Koreans were clearly not happy the American press was set up at the Melia Hotel in Hanoi. As we had heard earlier, Kim Jong Un is staying at the hotel. He just arrived per @Kevinliptakcnn and @AlliemalCNN https://t.co/0MnU8VASQT

Shortly before Kim Jong Un arrived in Vietnam, the Vietnamese government tweeted that the White House Press Corps is being "relocated." (our filing center, which took weeks to set up, is in the same hotel where Kim Jong Un is believed to be staying) https://t.co/tKQNojrjCH

The press in Vietnam to cover the summit is now scrambling to relocate:
The White House is moving the press filing centre for the Vietnam summit for ‘technical reasons’. (Kim Jong Un is expected to be staying at the hotel where the filing centre was to be set up.)

As Kim Jong Un arrives in Vietnam,
the Vietnamese foreign ministry says the White House press corps will be relocated from the hotel where they were set to broadcast, which was the same location he’s rumored to be staying. https://t.co/jtBD5SVbSX— Kaitlan Collins (@kaitlancollins) February 26, 2019

Some early complications at Trump-Kim summit. Rumors around town were that Kim was set to stay in the same hotel as the White House Press Corps. Looks like the press corps is moving…. https://t.co/LZKsokt64k

Weird, North Korean dictator didn't want the US press corps in the same hotel.
Can you imagine running into him at the breakfast buffet though https://t.co/m76ZaO4maH
