A Washington Post report that Jared Kushner “set up a secret channel of communication” with Russia has fueled the anti-Trump #Resistance even more:

The Democrats are of course all over it, using the story to imply the Trump campaign colluded with Russia:

The New York Times has narrowed down the focus of the story just a little bit with this report:
The idea behind the secret channel was for Russian military officials to brief Michael Flynn about the Syrian war https://t.co/GbvaLUKOGx pic.twitter.com/xoCRPVuMHA
— NYT Politics (@nytpolitics) May 27, 2017
From the NYT story:
It is unclear who first proposed the communications channel, but the people familiar with the meeting said the idea was to have Mr. Flynn speak directly with a senior military official in Moscow to discuss Syria and other security issues. The communications channel was never set up, the people said.
Does that change the WaPo’s story dramatically? Opinions vary:
This is foolish, wrong & dumb. It's likely too dumb to be a crime. Maybe they didn't trust O Admin to set it up, but it sure is dumb. https://t.co/AlDTHoyTYR

Tag team journalistic hit jobs. First one has bombshell headline. Second one comes in to walk back the bombshell after frenzy.

My "wait 24 hours the story will change" policy……looking pretty smart. ?

Um, this sounds like BS. Why would Kushner propose a back channel to talk about Syria? https://t.co/pTFz8lcyhh
