Donald Trump to participate in a CNN presidential town hall next week

Both the mainstream media and the Never Trump crowd really seem to want Donald Trump to be the Republican nominee in 2024. First, they think he’ll be an easy candidate for President Joe Biden to beat — after all, he’s plagued with scandals, both real and imagined — and second, they could really use the ratings boost. CNN, whose own Jim Acosta wrote a book crying about how dangerous it was to tell the truth under the Trump administration and feared for his life covering Trump rallies, is hosting a town hall with Trump next week in New Hampshire. When do the other declared candidates for 2024 get their town halls? Why not bring back Don Lemon to host a town hall with Vivek Ramaswamy?

CNN reports:

The event, hosted by “CNN This Morning” anchor Kaitlan Collins and airing at 9 p.m. ET on May 10, will feature the former president taking questions from New Hampshire Republicans and undeclared voters who plan to vote in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.

Trump is the present front-runner in the Republican field but has been indicted in Manhattan in a case involving hush money payments, made during the 2016 campaign, to women who claimed they had extramarital affairs with Trump, which he denies. He also is being sued by former advice columnist E. Jean Carroll, who alleges that Trump sexually assaulted her in the mid-1990s and subsequently defamed her after she went public. Trump has also denied Carroll’s allegations.

Some are praising Trump for entering enemy territory, although we don’t suspect an ambush. Dana Loesch, on the other hand, knows full well about walking into an ambush on CNN:

It really is a joke for CNN to be doing this, after getting blamed for showing an empty podium in 2016. They just can’t quit him, and for some reason, Trump has decided to do CNN a favor and give them something for their news cycle.
