Cornell prof asks class to identify two students violating mask mandate so he could fail them for the semester

Here’s something: an oceanography professor at Cornell University sent out an email to one of his classes asking for help identifying two students who had been photographed in violation of the school’s mask mandate. “One student is a male with red hair and a fairly prominent hooked nose,”  Dr. Bruce C. Monger wrote, going on to describe the student’s hair and wardrobe. He did the same with another student and promised that “if/when I find the identity of these two students, I will be failing both for the semester as I promised I would in class last Wednesday.”

The best Cornell could do was say that Monger “described the unmasked students’ physical characteristics in ways that do not reflect Cornell values.”

We sincerely do want to know the answer: will the students be given failing grades for not wearing masks?
