Two men who tried to travel to Syria to fight alongside ISIS used student aid to purchase tickets

Two Somali-Americans from Minnesota charged with conspiracy to fight alongside terrorists now face additional financial fraud charges for allegedly using more than $1,000 in federal college financial aid to purchase tickets to Europe.

The Star Tribune reports that Hamza Ahmed, 20, and Hanad Mustafe Musse, 19, are among seven Somali-Americans from Minnesota who have been charged with planning to travel to Syria to fight alongside ISIS. They had purchased tickets to Europe using more than $1,000 in financial aid money and planned to rendezvous in Syria. Ahmed had already boarded his flight when he was apprehended by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents.

The FBI says that more than 20 Somali-Americans from Minnesota have left the U.S. to fight with ISIS over the past two years.

In addition, two other men who had driven from Minnesota to California en route to Mexico, from where they intended to fly to Syria, planned to murder federal law enforcement officers if that plan fell through.

Suckas? Sadly, that fits pretty well.
