Scientists and anti-fascists alike: Don't forget your chant sheet for the #MarchForScience

Saturday, of course, is not only Earth Day but the first-ever March for Science, and while TV host Bill Nye the Science Guy was overseeing things from his position as co-chair, Steve Milloy, editor of JunkScience.com, was keeping an eye on the proceedings from a more skeptical vantage point.

We haven’t yet spotted many signs thanking capitalism for its contribution to our quality of life, but we’ve heard a few chants about fascism mixed in with the science puns. Here’s a photo showing some of the suggested chants for Chicago’s march. We’re partial to the one rhyming “questions” with “source citations” and yet managing to sound vaguely revolutionary.

Chanting might be what cultists do, but come on … how many days a year do scientists get to march the streets in their lab coats and use bullhorns like all the other protest groups do? Let’s cut ’em a bit of slack.

Of course, plenty of revolutionaries turned out to make sure that they were represented at the March for Science; after all, even the least informed anti-fascist knows that the scientific method is under attack.

These gals in downtown Los Angeles decided to leave the white coats back in the lab and go with coordinated T-shirts instead.
