Who's ready for another video of angry celebrity scolds? Humanity for Progress urges obstruction

When actors dispense with the lavish sets and makeup in favor of a plain portrait studio backdrop, you know they have something super serious they need to get off their chests and/or cue cards.

Previous celebrity videos have tried to convince voters to “save the day” by voting for Hillary Clinton and, when that failed, to convince 37 electors to “go down in the books as an American hero” by voting for anyone but Donald Trump.

Those videos worked so well, another group of activist celebrities has gathered to shoot yet another video urging members of Congress — their “last line of defense against Trump — to #StandUpForUS by opposing the administration whenever possible. Ironically, the group formerly known as Humanity for Hillary and asking people to share its video along with the #OBSTRUCT hashtag now calls itself Humanity for Progress.

“Use your congressional powers to obstruct … [and] defeat anything that violates our core values as diverse Americans,” they plead.

In the video, reports The Cut, “celebrities and activists including Rosie Perez, Keegan-Michael Key, Tavi Gevinson, Lea Delaria, Sally Field, and Janet Mock speak to members of Congress directly, demanding they fight Trump’s administration should it seek to do harm to marginalized groups.”

It’s long been said that some suffer for their art, but is it really necessary for the rest of us to suffer through it?
