Police have reported that a gun was recovered at the scene.

3. His 17-year-old sister told me she was outside her house and saw her brother run down the street, chased by police. She ran too.

Word traveled quickly, in particular the narrative that the teen was shot in the back while fleeing police with his hands up. CBS Los Angeles quoted one woman as saying, “We seen the little boy running, with the blue shirt on. I seen him running with his hands up. Like ‘Don’t shoot me.'”
