'We have all evolved': Flow chart traces Hillary's evolution on gay marriage

“When I was ready to say what I said, I said it.”

Hillary Clinton’s interview Thursday with NPR’s Terry Gross turned contentious when Gross pressed Mrs. Clinton on same-sex marriage and the Defense of Marriage Act, signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1996.

The exchange became so testy and convoluted that the Washington Post put together a flow chart to trace Hillary Clinton’s runaway train of thought. Behold:

The fine print at the bottom comprises two quotes from Clinton: “You are playing with my words,” and “You are trying to say that I used to be opposed and now I am in favor and I did it for political reasons.”

Political reasons? A Clinton? Perish the thought!
