Never mind how the families of Newtown, Conn., would prefer to observe the one-year anniversary of the tragic Sandy Hook Elementary massacre. Organizing for Action is hijacking Dec. 14 to stage its own “remembrance events” across the nation.

In an email, OFA promises to give organizers “the resources you need to ensure your event is a powerful reminder of what we lost a year ago, and a reminder that we as a nation need to do more to prevent gun violence and keep our communities safe.” That certainly sounds more like a series of gun control rallies than a solemn remembrance, doesn’t it? If it doesn’t yet, check out the official event description from of the “day of action”:

It has been one year since the tragic events in Newtown, Connecticut, where 26 Americans lost their lives to gun violence. Despite overwhelming public support for expanding background checks for gun sales, Congress has failed to act. Join local supporters as we remember Newtown and ask Congress: What will it take to make our communities safer?

  • QWYS (Hydralisk of the Swarm)

Never let a crisis go to waste.

Especially when we caused it. Let us all remember who it was that rather than fix the issues in the US mental health system in the late 60’s early 70’s the Demonrats abolished it. Hey, wait a minute, seems a bit like Obamacare to me.

Oh joy, and me without any decent pain killers…

    • Fuck all the things

Democrats. Dancing on the graves of the innocent since 1865.

      • Suzyqpie

Democrats want the 2nd Gone, one little bite at a time…Democrats and their camarilla. Hi Clete, of Vowel Bigotry fame…

        • Fuck all the things

          What witty badinage.

Vowel Bigotry? Care to expound on that?

          • Suzyqpie

I said camarillo, you said camarilla, an innocuous humorous exchange. I defended my “o.”

          • Fuck all the things

Oh, I had forgotten about that. I’ve slept since then. 😛

          • Suzyqpie

My own magnanimity, hubris of “camarillo.” I took great umbrage that I was off one vowel.

          • Fuck all the things

It’s okay Suzy. I forgave you.

  • Ryan Johnson

Hmph. Here I was just praying that there wouldn’t be yet another horrible tragedy this year, when what I should’ve been doing was using last year’s tragedy to promote disarming the citizens.

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Pray for the innocent anyway, they are truly deserving of it.

  • Marvin Nelson

Only brain-dead, paranoid libturds use the death of children and teachers to advance their gun-grabbing agenda. Once again, they show the shallowness of their morality. They are all disgusting little trolls.

    • ObamaFail

Libs whined endlessly about “the right politicizing Benghazi”, but have no issue with Dems exploiting the death of children to push their Anti-Constitution agenda. Trying to get to the bottom of an attempted cover-up of a terrorist attack? EVIL! Exploiting the death of children? Morally superior in every way!!! Liberal logic man, it’s stupid.

  • grais

    They are sub-human.
I’d be happy to learn that Newtown, CT has told them to fuck off.

    • Mark81150 Never/Trump/Hillary

      That’s the tell isn’t it?

Newton has told Obama, to go F himself… and liberals just sneer and go out to promote raging hysteria like the fear merchants they are..

They might select that massive mound of malodorous malarkey Micheal Moore.

  • ObamaFail

So to libs, children being murdered by a deranged Obama supporter (Lanza was an Obama supporter, look it up) is something to celebrate? Scum. Trash. Other words that describe human garbage.

  • ObamaFail

I guess libs are going to celebrate other shootings as well.

    • JamesMc

Pretty sure that picture isn’t accurate. Kliebold and Klaven (sp?), the Columbine shooters, were in high school. They couldn’t have been registered. Adam Lamza, Sandy Hook, I’m moderately certain wasn’t a registered voter either.

They may well have been Democrat leaning, calling them “Registered” is inaccurate.

      • Fuck all the things

They came from active Democrat families. Close enough.

  • DaMello ®

Screw them! This is nothing more than an attempt to smear honest Americans from Pavlov dogs! Let’s talk about the laws that allow and ignore these types about happenstance!

  • HanaFiveO

I have a real problem with OFA doing this crap. I would have the same problem if the NRA tried to highjack the anniversary of a tragic event to promote their cause. Its just sick.
My concern is for the parents of the victims/immediate community. I really wonder if they are aware that this is happening and how they feel about it. I cant imagine that they would want this event turned into a political circus.

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Some things are Just Not Done.

    • nickdqwk

One of the many things the NRA will do, is offer/sponsor training without prejudice.

      • nickdqwk

Start teaching respect and safety while young.

May not be allowed in a school near you, truly sad too.

        • Ryan Johnson

Strangely enough, I feel like I remember seeing Eddie Eagle sometime around 16 years ago.

      • HanaFiveO

True, but that has nothing to do with the point I was trying to make.

        • nickdqwk

Sorry, just thought I could slip in a little Pro NRA spot.
I do think that I understand your point, I hope anyway. Remembrance is fine exploitation is not.
The NRA does not have a philosophy that allows for exploitation, their goal is less violence through education, as above, respect and safety.

  • tops116 ✓Quipper

Will OFA also be organizing events for the anniversaries of 9/11, Benghazi, and Fort Hood?

Well, maybe they’ll get on it once the healthcare website is working. According to Plouffe, it’ll only be until 2017. 😐

  • Michelle ✓classified

Uh, if they’re doing this “as a reminder” to “prevent gun violence” and “keep our communities safe,” where are their events for the victims of gun violence on a daily basis in Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, DC., etc.?

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Those lost there will forever be nameless, except to the grieving kin. They don’t fit the agenda.

      • HanaFiveO

And that is the most disgusting truth of all.

  • Hi This Is My Username

The OFA is loaded with scum bags. This is truly terrible. I hope the parents know this is just going to be trouble and tell them to f**k off.

  • therealguyfaux ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

“Will no one think of the children?” is rapidly becoming the refuge of a scoundrel.

It is exponentially more disgusting when it is dead children being used in this way.

And please, all you f*cktards out there who will argue that we wave the “Benghazi bloody shirt”– the difference is that the children in Connecticut were not killed with the direct knowledge and connivance of the Federal Government.

If you truly cannot see the failure of your moral equivalency argument, there is no purpose discussing the subject any further. And if you cynically raise this specious argument merely to deflect attention away from the Administration– again, no purpose is served discussing it. At this point, what difference would discussing it make?

    • ObamaFail

Also, no one tried to cover up Newton for political gains like when Obama and the Dems tried to cover up Benghazi so they could credit Obama with single-handedly destroying Al-Qaeda.

  • WhoDat

They should always be in memoriam.

    • CatHerder ✓fire! ✓fire!

Those poor children died to slake the bloodlust of a deranged youth, they did not choose to sacrifice themselves to advance an agenda. They should be remembered in prayer, not political rallies.

    • Scotty G.

In order to raise funds. 500 murder victims in Chicago…not so much.

      • ObamaFail

Illegally obtained guns used by criminals are a non-issue to libs. How can they go after legal gun owners if they focus on the criminals? And it has to be pointed out that Lanza stole his mother’s gun, so added gun control measures wouldn’t have stopped him.

    • ObamaFail

They’d still be alive if some deranged liberal hadn’t have walked in there with a gun. A gun that he stole and no amount of added gun laws would have stopped him.

I wonder what their parents think about Michael Moore demanding access to the pictures of the crime scene so he could profit off of them?

      • Onyx

You’re right. No conceivable gun law could prevent a law-abiding mother from keeping thousands of rounds of ammunition, multiple handguns, and a rifle able to fire two hundred rounds in a matter of minutes in an open gun locker.

        • ForTheRepublicOfDave

Oh, of course. We MUST simply punish those LAW ABIDING citizens! Did you even read the comment you posted? What exactly do you plan to do, force them to buy a lock? You gun-control freaks will never, EVER get enough of controlling what people do with their guns, will you?

          • Onyx

Being forced to buy a lock is “punishment”? What do you call being shot in the head with your own gun while you’re sleeping, a birthday party?

  • Ed McDowell

The OFA (short for OFFAL) wouldn’t use a tragic event for a political agenda would it. I’m sure they are going to make a plea for attention to mental health. Yeah, that’s it.

  • BoscoBolt

obama and his thugs never tire of dragging dead children through the streets of America.

  • Scotty G.

Remember, they are “non-partisan”. Just ask, they’ll tell you.

    • ObamaFail

By “non-partisan”, they mean 100% completely partisan.

  • heinleiners

But showing pictures in public of hacked up baby parts to get abortion made illegal is OK.

    • Ryan Johnson

That’s right. Because people are killing children legally in this manner. What Lanza did was illegal, and yet, what he did was no worse than what is happening to kids who are aborted.

  • Kristine ✓ᵛᵉʳᶦᶠᶦᵉᵈ

So it’s not about actually remembering the children and other victims, it’s clearly stated that it’s about guns.

You have 364 other days of the year to be political, how about leaving that one day to be about the victims and their families? Cripes.

  • David Johnson

pier morgan is probably going to broadcast from it!

Another chance to push the agenda. Have some damn decency, for once, and stop using human tragedy as your personal launching pad.

    • Onyx

You say that like the “agenda” springs from anything other than the desire to prevent this type of human tragedy. And what’s the “personal” part? About half of the country supports a nationwide ban on semi-automatic handguns, for instance. I understand you’re in the other half, but that doesn’t sound like a niche opinion, does it?

      • Jay Stevens

“About half of the country supports a nationwide ban on semi-automatic handguns, … ”

First, I think you are pulling statistics out of your anal orifice.

The thing to keep in mind, is that they mostly favor a ban on all handguns, not just semi-automatics. They just figure that a ban on semi-autos is possible as a first step. And if not that, magazine size restrictions. Oh, wait …

      • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

“About half of the country supports a nationwide ban on semi-automatic handguns, for instance.”

Can you provide proof of this?

        • ForTheRepublicOfDave

He don’t need no stinkin’ proof, Penguin. He’s one of the “enlightened” ones on the issue.

      • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

What would you say if the NRA were to hold pro-second amendment events during this anniversary? Bet that would wad up your panties real quick. Even though it’s a God Given right and all that. And…I’m still waiting for a source regarding your BS statement regarding the “half the country supports a nationwide ban on semi-automatic handguns”.

        • Onyx
          • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

Not one of these polls mention a “nationwide ban on semiautomatic handguns”. You’re making sh*t up.

          • Onyx

First link: “Opinion is divided over whether to ban semi-automatic guns – 44% favor such a ban, while 49% are opposed.”

Second link: “A ban on the manufacture, sale and possession of semi-automatic assault guns, such as the AK-47 (Favor: 62%)”

Third link: “On specific measures, 52 percent favor banning semi-automatic handguns (it’s been 48 and 55 percent in previous polls) and 59 percent support banning high-capacity clips that carry more than 10 bullets…”

          • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

Ah, yeah, no. Your ignorance of firearms is showing. Assault RIFLES were in question. Not all “guns”, and certainly not “handguns” as you stated. Just the facts please. And stop twisting it so you don’t sound like the misinformed liberal you obviously are.

          • Onyx

I just quoted you the articles. None say “rifle”. The first says “semi-automatic guns”… even more general than semi-automatic handguns, wouldn’t you say? The second says “assault guns” and gives the AK-47 as an example, which I agree is tendentious; disregard that one if you don’t like it. The third says “semi-automatic handguns,” verbatim.

          • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

The third, and only one, being from ABC. I admit I missed that. But really? Just a tad biased don’t you think. I appreciate your views. You can ‘feel’ however you wish on the subject. But the fact remains, the criminal element isn’t abiding by current gun laws. So how would stricter laws change that?

        • Onyx

What “God-given right” are you referring to, anyway? If it’s the right to self-defense, that’s fine. If the guns and ammo currently in (legal) circulation were only ever used in self-defense, no one would be calling for stronger gun control. But that’s not all they’re used for, is it?

          • The Penguin, Don’t talk shit

And either are knives, hammers, axes, or even vehicles in the hands of a criminal or a sick individual. How are we to defend ourselves if they are the only ones who have firearms? Do you think these people will abide by even stricter gun laws when they ignore the current ones?

  • Ken Alan Draper

“Firearms misidentifacation for political gain 101”

That is simple. Any handgun = Glock. Any shoulder fired weapon, rifle or shotgun, = M-16

  • keyboard jockey

they want to exploit the anniversary of mass murder of children and the school teachers – that’s past in bad taste.

At some point those people who populate OFA are going to have to grow up and get real jobs.

  • World B. Free

This is a clear signal that the left is going to revive their push for more gun control measures soon.
