American Heroes of 9/11: The Boatlift
The largest maritime evacuation in history did not happen at Dunkirk. It happened in New York on September 11th. Every bridge, tunnel, and subway out of Manhattan was shut, and half a million people were trapped on the island. The Coast Guard put out one call on the radio: all available boats. The mariners of the 9/11 boatlift are American heroes.
