If by “strange,” you mean “predictable,” then yes. After all, this is Media Matters we’re dealing with.
Earlier, a tweet went out from an account purporting to belong to Bill O’Reilly:
BREAKING: One alleged shooter confirmed as white supremacist "Sam Hyde" others unconfirmed as of yet #SanBernadino pic.twitter.com/DSvVp82NLB
— Bill O'Reilly (@oreilIyfactor) December 2, 2015
One of the “L’s” in that handle is actually an “I”: @oreilIyfactor.
Well, anyway, many tweeters initially fell for it. Media Matters was among them. And when they were busted for it, they decided to clear things up — in the only way they know how: dishonestly.

Media Matters. Accuracy? Truth? Not so much.
.@mmfa How quickly can you delete this tweet?
— Matthew (@Matthops82) December 2, 2015

Poor @mmfa got trolled because they don't know a real Bill O'Reilly account from a fake one.
— Remulak MoxArgon (@moxargon) December 2, 2015
Hurry, MMFA. Your tweet’s not gonna backpedal itself!
@Matthops82 yup it's fake. the fake account has plenty of retweets which is how bad info spreads.
— Media Matters (@mmfa) December 2, 2015
And Media Matters is doing their part to make sure that fake info keeps spreading.
@mmfa Also it's not Bill O'Reilly.
— Matt Bramanti (@mattbramanti) December 2, 2015
@mmfa you guys know it's fake account, why not correct it??
— Melanie (@mrussRSF) December 2, 2015
@mmfa How about a little more clarity in that the account is a fake? @Matthops82
— Jay Caruso (@JayCaruso) December 2, 2015
Next time, you should say "fake Bill O'Reilly account tweets debunked hoax" https://t.co/ERNEIby5Ri
— Matthew (@Matthops82) December 2, 2015
We’re sure they’ll be much more careful next time.
