Last Friday, three members of the Russian all-female punk band Pussy Riot were charged with hooliganism and sentenced to two years in prison for their outspoken criticism of President Vladimir Putin. Protests have erupted across Europe and North America in response to the Russian government’s blatant trampling on free speech.
Senator Grassley has added his voice to the chorus of Pussy Riot defenders. He is not, however, satisfied with the White House’s statement on the subject:
