Joe Walsh vows that he'll never stop tweeting no matter what, 'because we have a democracy to defend'

Manuel Balce Ceneta

In case you missed it, Elon Musk apparently has designs on a complete Twitter overhaul. Twitter is (nearly) dead. Long live X.

We're still not really clear on what these changes will entail or how drastically the appearance/functionality of Twitter is going to change when it officially becomes X, but for what it's worth, Joe Walsh is absolutely certain of one thing: he's not going anywhere. Not as long as democracy is on the line:

Neither snow, nor rain, nor heat, nor gloom of night, nor relentless mockery stays Joe Walsh from the swift completion of his complete loss of whatever was still left of his dignity. Imagine thinking "I'm gonna keep tweeting day & night because we have a democracy to defend" makes you sound like a badass and not like a self-important douchebag with weapons-grade delusions of grandeur and relevance.

Some people are getting hung up on the fact that Joe referred to a "democracy" and not a constitutional republic, but that's not the thing that makes Walsh's tweet so ridiculous, so I'm not going to focus on that aspect. To me, the idea that he thinks what he does on Twitter actually has the potential to make any difference to anything whatsoever is the bit that I'm hung up on. And I'm definitely not alone.

It really is.

I have no doubt that he's sitting at home right now, just fantasizing about being important while he's repeatedly grabbing his musket.

Joe Walsh wants so badly to be a thing. And I'm more than happy to make him one, but not in the way he hopes.

The field is a very large one, to be sure. But I bet if Joe keeps at it and works really hard, he'll keep moving closer and closer to the front of the pack.
