Poor Meghan McCain. Being a “progressive Republican” means you’ve got to please everyone, but sadly, Meggie hasn’t quite mastered that delicate art. As a useful idiot for the Left, she’s best known ’round these parts for being soundly mocked by conservatives. Today, though, it was liberals who went after her.
When she lamented “Zero Dark Thirty” director Kathryn Bigelow’s Oscar snub and President Obama’s decidedly androcentric cabinet, McCain didn’t find many sympathetic ears:
@McCainBlogette Agreed on the both, although I don’t see an anti-woman conspiracy. It is disappointing however.
— Bill Reynolds (@bill0004) January 10, 2013
Most of those who weighed in were pretty ticked, actually:
@McCainBlogette shut up. You're woman should be given things just for being women? Isn't that what you want to stop men from doing?
— Cockroach Johnson (@CokroachJohnson) January 10, 2013
@mccainblogette Interesting. Even after 1st term your complaining? U would want PC cabinet picks instead of best qualified? Thats progress?
— Humble (@iHumble) January 10, 2013
@McCainBlogette Do you want Oscar nominations and cabinet nominees to be determined by gender or actual capibilities?
— Wolfje (@Wolfje_) January 10, 2013
Several people reminded her that President Obama was (allegedly) planning to nominate Amb. Susan Rice to be the next Secretary of State. (She withdrew her own name from consideration to spare him from having to make that gutsy call.)

@McCainBlogette Susan Rice was a woman….
— J3 (@Jthethird) January 10, 2013
That she was. A dishonest woman who was an extremely unqualified one for the post.

@McCainBlogette Why don't you get on your party's case for killing the Susan Rice nomination, if you're so concerned about feminism?

@McCainBlogette Susan Rice was shot down.

@McCainBlogette We we could have had a super-qualified woman at state, but a few senators forgot who won the election.

Meghan’s father, Sen. John McCain, played an integral role in vetting Rice — as he should have. But liberals didn’t see it that way, and they smacked her around:
At least your dad supported Rice. RT @McCainBlogette Bigelow was robbed of an oscar nomination, and Obama's cabinet nominees are all men.
— darren, a dog liker (@tai_nugget) January 10, 2013
@McCainBlogette Yeah…gee thanks Dad…
— Truth Be Told (@search4truth1) January 10, 2013
.@McCainBlogette We would've had Susan Rice if not for your father's witch hunt. Read a book.
— Vincent Scarpa (@vincentscarpa) January 10, 2013
@McCainBlogette maybe if your dad didn't railroad an African American woman for Secretary of State, that wouldn't be so. Talk to your daddy.

@McCainBlogette Yes, after he tried to nominate a woman, and your Father's poor comprehension got her out. :

.@McCainBlogette He would have a female nominee if pops wasnt trying to be relevant. *files nails*

@McCainBlogette Susan rice would be in there if it wasn't for your dad and a few others. Just sayin.

@McCainBlogette You should have had a talk with YOUR dad when he was was ranting against an African American WOMAN.

@McCainBlogette You may want to talk to Pops about the second thing – Susan Rice should be there. The Oscar thing is Obama's fault, though.
— Will Davis (@freeGuac) January 10, 2013
.@McCainBlogette Um… Obama's Cabinet would've included a woman if your dad hadn't pointlessly attacked the highly qualified Susan Rice.
— Karin Robinson (@karinjr) January 10, 2013
@McCainBlogette where was Meghan McCain when her dad was degrading Susan Rice , a black woman. Give me a break!
— Beverly Calloway (@bevcall) January 10, 2013

Ouch. She eventually deleted her tweet, as she is wont to do when she’s not unanimously praised:
Meghan McCain has deleted her tweet about #Potus. Maybe someone reminded her that her daddy had a lil something to do with Susan Rice….
— Reagan Gomez (@ReaganGomez) January 10, 2013
Lol, Meghan McCain tweeted a lament about Obama's lack of women appointees and then deleted it when, I assume, the sheer irony hit her
— Todd (@ToddMT_CA) January 10, 2013
But the damage was already done:
@McCainBlogette ugh, get over yourself.
— kim giordano (@supersinga) January 10, 2013
@McCainBlogette girl sit down and shut the fuck up !! Stay back ten rows talking about my #POTUS
— TELISHA (@SweetUKGirl) January 10, 2013
Clearly, she still needs a little work when it comes to winning friends and influencing people. Better luck next time, Meghan.
