I rarely make mistakes, but when I do, I am quick to own up to them. Hey, I'm just being honest. Now that I'm officially starting my tenth year writing for Twitchy (THAT'S CRAZY, RIGHT?!), I can look back over the past decade, and it's clear how much better things go for those who own their mistakes when they make them. Doubling down, deflecting, or pretending you never made the mistake in the first place is far worse.
It's sort of like swallowing a giant horse pill - you know it won't be pleasant, but you'll be better off if you do it.
Anyway, I digress.
I made such a mistake earlier today when I saw FactPost share a video of Mike Johnson claiming Gavin Newsom should be tarred and feathered. Now, in my defense, with AI it's possible this was fake, especially if you are paying close attention to Johnson's mouth.

Now you see why I wanted to assume it was fake.
Why I thought it had to be fake.
But no, it's very real.
House Speaker Mike Johnson would not weigh in on whether California Gov. Gavin Newsom should be arrested — a suggestion made by President Trump — but said the governor should be "tarred and feathered."https://t.co/cqRx9bIpZQ pic.twitter.com/tIGXSEaw80

Now, there are plenty of people who are fine, even good, with what Johnson said and I get it. But at the same time, this will become a story for the Leftist media for days and days and days. They will claim it's racism and that the GOP is fanning the flames of violence.
And Newsom will definitely use it for sympathy attention.
Man, I wish I'd been RIGHT. Heh.
