Ann Coulter dropped a new Unsafe clip that cuts through the usual refugee-saint narrative surrounding Rep. Ilhan Omar that our pals on the Left and in the Democrat Party try to push.
Omar is rarely shy about lecturing Americans on morality, immigration, and what this country supposedly owes the world. Coulter’s point is simpler and far less fashionable: some people become refugees because the side they served lost.
Like Omar.

Omar’s father, Nur Omar Mohamed, was a colonel in the Somali National Army under Mohamed Siad Barre. Barre’s Marxist regime was not a humanitarian NGO. It ran a police state, crushed opponents, and is widely accused of the Isaaq genocide in the late 1980s. When that government collapsed in 1991, the family fled, spent time in a Kenyan camp, and later received asylum in the United States.
That sequence is not in dispute. What gets airbrushed is the implication. Serving as a senior officer in a brutal Marxist military until the regime falls is not the same biography as a peasant running from death squads. Coulter’s argument is that American immigration storytelling too often pretends every arrival is the persecuted party and never the former enforcer.
Coulter laid it out ... mercilessly.

Omar has built a political brand on criticizing the country that took her family in. She talks about American sins with the confidence of someone who assumes her own origin story is beyond examination. Coulter is asking the obvious follow-up: why should a congresswoman whose father served a dictator get to scold the United States as if her family arrived with clean hands and a halo?

Coulter is doing what she always does: saying the part polite Washington pretends not to notice. America can take in people fleeing chaos. It does not have to pretend every family that fled was on the side of the angels.
