Yesterday, news broke that longtime Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo was leaving the network. Because Fox News' statement about her departure was brief and offered little detail, speculation began immediately. Bartiromo herself has not posted since the announcement, but her attorney stated unequivocally that she was not fired.
Others speculated that Bartiromo left the network to succeed Karoline Leavitt as President Trump's Press Secretary, but this possibility is firmly seated in the realm of rumor at the time of this writing.
Regardless of the details or what Bartiromo's future holds, all of which we're sure to find out soon enough, naturally, many prominent figures offered tributes to her tenure at Fox, including the President.
🚨 JUST IN: President Trump is STUNNED that Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox, calling her a WARRIOR and saying fans are not happy

“I can’t believe Maria Bartiromo is no longer going to have her great show(s) on FoxNews/Business. Three different shows, always number one.… pic.twitter.com/hfaoHLXuiE
Another prominent politician (and former Fox News host) who is an ardent supporter of Bartiromo's work is Israel Ambassador Mike Huckabee.
He also tried to offer a valediction to her and, well, let's just say that it didn't go all that well.
I just saw that @MariaBartiromo has left @FoxBusiness @FoxNews & so sad to hear. The smartest hardest working journalist & absolutely class act. It was an honor to work with him/ her and later to be guest on a show always worth watching.
— Ambassador Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) September 3, 2026
Wait ... WHAT?
Did Huckabee refer to Bartiromo as "him/her"?
And what does that even mean?
Conservatives, to borrow an overused phrase from the legacy media, pounced.

Is you okay. When is the last time you had your/her prostate checked?

Him/her eh? Alrighty then. https://t.co/fMkQtULhce pic.twitter.com/dOPtGjSoMA

Most of the more than one thousand replies were very funny, but we're sure that Bartiromo's husband of 27 years, Jonathan Steinberg, can testify that she's all woman.
Huckabee noticed the reaction he was getting and quickly tried to explain the error.
That, uhh, didn't go over very well, either.
Thanks for catching the "him/her" line! I was typing while riding in vehicle on bumpy street--but have NO idea how that came out! Aside from my clumsy typo mistake, I still love @MariaBartiromo & will always have total respect for HER. Just HER, no "him" involved! https://t.co/r0axvzJ4U2
— Ambassador Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) September 3, 2026
Him/her is a typo caused by potholes?
Huh?
Bumpy streets made you type him/her?! What?!
— Michele 🇺🇸 (@GoldenNoel) September 3, 2026
It doesn't seem that plausible to us either.
Are you driving through Gaza strip?
— 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸Koshy Oommen 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 (@Koshy63) September 3, 2026
LOL.
That would certainly be the bumpiest of streets.
Glad we cleared that up. https://t.co/N8nE94Lksf

Clear as mud, that explanation was.
Still, most (not counting the antisemites) were willing to give Huckabee the benefit of the doubt and forgive him for his pronouns gaffe, even if his excuse smelled a little suspect.

HA!
I’ve had waaaay worse misspellings that I’ve pressed send on.

We know how Huckabee feels. We once published a story about billionaire Mark Cuban.
But because of a bumpy road, it somehow came out as "Rachel Maddow."
😅 No matter what the circumstances, I’m sure SHE got a laugh.

As we noted above, Bartiromo has not posted on X since the announcement. But if she saw Huckabee's rake stomp, we're sure she had a good chuckle about it.
We can only hope that, when she does post again, she gives Huckabee a good ribbing in return. Maybe she can refer to him as "ze/zim."
Ha ha that’s super funny but I’m glad you corrected it. You’re funny Mike drive safe.

To Huckabee's credit, when he saw not only the error of his original tweet, but also the reaction to his bungled explanation, he did his best to steer into the skid and make fun of himself for all of it.
Amazing what @X followers notice! I/me sent/posted X/Twitter abt my friend/fmr colleague @MariaBartiromo it was NOT AI-but post read him/her (auto-type?) & I/me was in car/vehicle on bad/bumpy st. The error/mistake totally me/mine. The message is that @MariaBartiromo is…
— Ambassador Mike Huckabee (@GovMikeHuckabee) September 4, 2026
... is terrific person/professional!
That is indeed a good message.
Even if Huckabee left the article "a" out before the word "terrific" in the final sentence of his apology for his apology.
Man, those bumpy roads. They'll get ya' every time!
