OOPS! Mike Huckabee Apologizes for Unfortunate 'Typo' in His Valediction to Maria Bartiromo

Yesterday, news broke that longtime Fox Business anchor Maria Bartiromo was leaving the network. Because Fox News' statement about her departure was brief and offered little detail, speculation began immediately. Bartiromo herself has not posted since the announcement, but her attorney stated unequivocally that she was not fired.

Others speculated that Bartiromo left the network to succeed Karoline Leavitt as President Trump's Press Secretary, but this possibility is firmly seated in the realm of rumor at the time of this writing.

Regardless of the details or what Bartiromo's future holds, all of which we're sure to find out soon enough, naturally, many prominent figures offered tributes to her tenure at Fox, including the President.

Another prominent politician (and former Fox News host) who is an ardent supporter of Bartiromo's work is Israel Ambassador Mike Huckabee

He also tried to offer a valediction to her and, well, let's just say that it didn't go all that well.

Wait ... WHAT?

Did Huckabee refer to Bartiromo as "him/her"?

And what does that even mean?

Conservatives, to borrow an overused phrase from the legacy media, pounced.

Most of the more than one thousand replies were very funny, but we're sure that Bartiromo's husband of 27 years, Jonathan Steinberg, can testify that she's all woman.

Huckabee noticed the reaction he was getting and quickly tried to explain the error.

That, uhh, didn't go over very well, either.

Him/her is a typo caused by potholes?

Huh?

It doesn't seem that plausible to us either.

LOL.

That would certainly be the bumpiest of streets.

Clear as mud, that explanation was.

Still, most (not counting the antisemites) were willing to give Huckabee the benefit of the doubt and forgive him for his pronouns gaffe, even if his excuse smelled a little suspect.

HA!

We know how Huckabee feels. We once published a story about billionaire Mark Cuban.

But because of a bumpy road, it somehow came out as "Rachel Maddow."

As we noted above, Bartiromo has not posted on X since the announcement. But if she saw Huckabee's rake stomp, we're sure she had a good chuckle about it.

We can only hope that, when she does post again, she gives Huckabee a good ribbing in return. Maybe she can refer to him as "ze/zim."

To Huckabee's credit, when he saw not only the error of his original tweet, but also the reaction to his bungled explanation, he did his best to steer into the skid and make fun of himself for all of it.

... is terrific person/professional!

That is indeed a good message.

Even if Huckabee left the article "a" out before the word "terrific" in the final sentence of his apology for his apology.

Man, those bumpy roads. They'll get ya' every time!
